Halo Infinite’s first multiplayer event adds samurai armor

Halo Infinite’s first major event for its free-to-play multiplayer, Fracture: Tenrai, is live.

You will get a mini battle pass and new cosmetics. It will be open through the Thanksgiving holiday, and it will end at midnight on November 30. But don’t worry, the event will return in January and four additional times between January and May (that’s six times total). However, 343 Industries says that this event may not be repeated as often.

Fracture: Tenrai’s aesthetic pulls from Japan and Japanese folklore. You can get new Mjolnir armour that will make your Spartan look more like a Samurai (like Hayabusa armor). Halo 3You can also be a Ninja or an ogre. If you’re curious how this all fits into Halo’s canon, the designers on Infinite have an answer ready for you! As a “Fracture,” these events exist in parallel universes or alternate realities to Master Chief and the Spartans we know. (If you’re really into the lore of the event, 343 has an almost bizarre amount of canonical information on Halo Waypoint.)

The event is 100% free, which means no premium battle pass to go along with the free version — there are 30 unlockable tiers total. Everybody who logs into the event during this period will be given a Fracture background.

Event Challenges will allow you to move up to the Tenrai battle pass. These are unique challenges only available during event weeks, and they’re time-gated. That means even if you complete all of the event challenges by Nov. 30, you won’t unlock all of the Tenrai items. For more battle passes, dedicated players may need to wait until Tenrai’s next event.

Tenrai’s new game mode Fiesta will be available. This is where you will find Event Challenges. Fiesta allows you to randomly spawn on arena maps and use completely random weapons. Fiesta will be available alongside Tenrai.

Although the Tenrai is free, you can also find samurai themed items at the event Halo Infinite shop, and this week’s ultimate quest offers bonus samurai items.
