Gundam Evolution Is Shutting Down In November

Gundam Evolution is closing down. This competitive multiplayer game set in the Gundam Universe has been a popular title for years.

Despite launching less than a year ago in September 2022, executive producer Kazuya Maruyama shared in a blog post that support for the game will be winding down, though he doesn’t provide any specifics as to why.

“We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together,” Maruyama writes. We challenged ourselves to make a Gundam FPS that was playable globally. Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.”

The sunsetting road map will be aired in a livestream tomorrow at 11pm PT. Gundam Evolution’s services officially end on November 29. Maruyama says that updates will continue to be sent until then. The sixth season will be released on August 23 and the last on October 25, respectively. In both seasons, a brand new map and unit will be introduced.

Today the following services have been suspended:

  • EVO Coins will no longer be sold
  • Ending Sales of EC Pod Limited
  • Updates to EC Pods and Ticket Pods

Gundam Evolution has been announced for a PlayStation State of Play event in March of 2022. Players can choose their mobile suit and fight in various modes of the FPS. It joins the growing list of multiplayer titles that closed their doors this year, which includes Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, Babylon’s Fall, Rumbleverse, Apex Legends Mobile, and Knockout City.
