Gotham Knights Trailer Breakdown: The Good, The Bad, And The Bat

Warner Bros. Games Montreal today released a thirteen-minute video showing Gotham Knights’ combat, urban exploration and suit customization. This footage left me with mixed emotions, but still excited for the October 25th release.

We’ll start by stating a positive. The Arkham formula is incorporated into the coding. Its flow, density, and overall mood are all in keeping with Arkham Origins, a Montreal-based studio that created the Arkham series. Now, the bad: It also reminded me of Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game – solely the sheer amount of items needed to craft suits and powers. That element led me to believe that we’d be grinding for materials during repetitive missions. It will be interesting to see what happens, although it is often the case. ThatMany crafting parts.

Now, let me show you the trailer.

Nightwing, a Pinball

Nightwing is seen fighting with momentum. This is said to be like pinballs bouncing around between foes. This is between Regulators members who live quite a distance from each other. His slide to them is a bit silly but his strikes seem well-balanced and animated.

Get together

Two players are paired up in cooperative sessions against Regulators. Red Hood holds one of the thugs down and clobbers him. The Nightwing then swoops in to finish it off. There are four heroes to choose from (Batgirl, Robin and Robin). I expect that we will see different team-ups for each combination of heroes. We hope that each couple has more than one team attack.

Uhhhhhh…

Red Hood bounces across the air using a mysterious leap ability, much like he’s on lilypads. This is an unusual traversal technique to be seen in Batman games. Although I believe Red Hood had a magical leap ability in comics, this doesn’t match the Bat-family gadgets.

Fortnite!

Nightwing understands that the fastest way to glide to battle is to jump out of an aeroplane and take out a glider. The Flying Trapeze is what he calls it, but that’s probably not a good name given the history of the circus.

Everybody Gets a Motorbike!

The four main characters can all ride a motorcycle on public streets. Although the movement seemed slow and awkward, we will have to experience it once we are able to get it.

Guns That Do Not Kill

Red Hood prefers to use rubber bullets in ranged combat. Red Hood uses pistols with rubber bullets for ranged combat. His targeting system is based on his direction of vision, making it quick and precise.

Finer Targeting

Nightwing launches a projectile towards a handful of barrels, causing an explosion. To shoot this item, Nightwing zoomed his perspective so that he could see the target.

Bats in the Belfry

Following their patrol of Gotham, heroes return to belfry where they can perform various functions. Their home base for crafting and mission planning is the belfry.

Takedowns

Every hero is subject to brutal takesdowns. Some make more noise, and can be dangerous when being stealthy.

Stealth

You can only be silent in video games if you do the awkward duck walk. Nightwing also descends on unsuspecting enemies for a silent chokehold attack.

The Best Way To Travel

Red Hood does not have to use his magical powers to cross the town. Red Hood can use a grapple to grab onto certain environmental points just as in Arkham games.

The Court of Owls

It’s so fun to see the Court of Owls secretive in video games! These characters are great in comic books, and they should make for some excellent villains in this video game. The larger enemy appears Talon-like, and is well-armed and protected.

Oh, no!

All of these crafting materials are amazing.

There are many things to see on the map

This map displays specific information such as criminal activity or faction presence. It is also possible to fast travel.

Do You Need a Fast Bat

If you choose Fast Travel, your hero will descend to great heights with a brand new device known as the Fast Bat.

Get Rewards

Cleansing up your city can bring you many benefits, including the opportunity to earn experience points as well as crafting materials.

Pre-Order Bonuses

Cloud Strife will appreciate the first preorder bonus, which is a brand new motorcycle.

Deep Suit Customization

The screen contains many options: tabs to craft and modify, stats and the ability of dismantling your creation. There are also nodes that allow you to upgrade (including colors).

Kylo Ren Should Be Proud

This game puts Batman to rest. In the Belfry, you’ll see his battered face. It’s a great way to start a story.

Different looks

This Nightwing-inspired look is one example of the many suit customization options.

Owl masks

Simple. Clean. Menacing. These Owls are amazing.

Gear Icons

For heroes to grab when their enemies fall, glowy icons are displayed.

Augmented Reality

Augmented reality is a similar experience to the Arkham Games, where detective work and problem-solving are possible. Nightwing is seen following a trail full of blood.
