God of War: Ragnarok Reportedly Due Out In November

Amidst rumors galore regarding God of War: Ragnarok’s release date and whether it’s coming out this year or getting delayed to 2023, a new report says it’s targeting a release in November.

This is the source of this news BloombergThe publication reports that Ragnarok is being developed by three individuals who believe PlayStation will launch it in November. The publication also reports that two of the three individuals are expecting PlayStation to release a precise date for Ragnarok later in November.

Ragnarok had been originally scheduled for release in 2021 according to 2020’s reveal. But Sony delayed the release to 2022 last June. Christopher Judge, the Kratos voice actor, also performed motion capture in the role. He later revealed that it was possible that this delay could have been caused by a recent surgery. Since then, fans have speculated whether Ragnarok is still due out this year, mainly because we’re already halfway through 2022. Sony has remained relatively mum on the game, too, save for a recent blog post that detailed some of the game’s accessibility features. Some people expected Ragnarok’s presence at the PlayStation State of Play showcase last week. However, Sony indicated that it was mostly focused on third party titles.

When Ragnarok failed to make an appearance at that, speculation shifted to Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest showcase, but it didn’t show up there yesterday either. In all of this chaos, insiders have indicated that Ragnarok is due September. However, others claim it was delayed by Sony until 2023.

Now, Bloomberg has tossed its hat in the Ragnarok ring, stating that Sony has delayed the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s God of War internally several times. The publication even reports that it was set to come out in September but has been internally pushed back to November, which is when it’s due out at the time of this writing.

It would be fantastic to see the release in November, however, if this report holds true, Sony could delay it once more if needed. Basically, between how tough game development is in general and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has affected studios around the world, it’s always possible that Ragnarok does slip to 2023. It’s only a matter of time before we know. Based on Bloomberg, we’ll be hearing about the game soon, sometime near the end of this month.
