Gizmo, hitbox updates, and more come to MultiVersus in patch 1.02

MultiVersus — the Warner Bros. Smash Bros.-like fighting game — just got its second major post-release patch on Thursday, and it brings with it some character-based balance changes, a hitbox overhaul, and a brand new support character.

Below, we’ll take you through the biggest changes in this patch before listing out the complete patch notes for the update. Here’s everything you need to know about MultiVersus Patch 1.02.

Gizmo

Gizmo is now included in this patch Gremlins, the game’s second post-release character afterRick and Morty’s Morty. Gizmo is the game’s fourth support character, joining the likes of Steven Universe, Reindog, and Velma. He’ll be able to help allies using a wide range of Mogwai shenanigans, gadgets, and projectiles.

Hurtboxes & Hitboxes Improved

This update was made by Player First Games. It included significant modifications to the hitboxes and hurtboxes for character characters (areas where characters take damage) as well as their area where characters deal damage. The boxes are now aligned with the animations as well as the character models, instead of a blobby aura. Although it is not quite as exciting as the addition of a new character to the game, this will make it more enjoyable.

Improved projectile performances

Most projectiles that are aimed at one other will collide, nullifying their respective effects. However, there are now also heavy projectiles, which will destroy normal projectiles and can’t be reflected. Player First Games has also made it easier for projectiles, especially exploding ones to interact with barriers.

Character updates

As with all patches, patch 1.02 enhances several characters and disables outliers. This is notably Morty’s first patch, and he’s getting some changes based on his first few weeks in MultiVersus. While it is not an important gameplay update, Velma won’t call the cops to confront her enemies. Instead, she will call the Mystery Machine for support.

Here are the Official Notes for MultiVersus Patch 1.02, taken from Player First Games.
