Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Preview – Exclusive Look At A Prison Haunting In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

The Ghostbusters will be back and will light up the ghosts in an asymmetrical multiplayer online game developed by IllFonic (the development studio behind Friday 13th: The Game, Predator Hunting Grounds) Here’s an exclusive glimpse at Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed. We see how four proton packs ignite and charge against a slimer-like purple ghost. IlllFonic thought it was essential to have this battle take place in a prison.

“We wanted to think of places that gamers could imagine having ghost activity, and that could truly be haunted,” says Jared Gerritzen, chief creative officer at IllFonic. Many of us grew up hearing stories about haunted, rundown prisons around campfires. So this location was a must include when coming up with maps.”

The Rock Island Prison Battle is shown in several clips. To make it appear that they are eating, or playing chess, mannequins have been set up on tables. The ceilings are covered in purple ectoplasm, which drips down from the wheelchairs that roam freely through the hallways.

“The prison map has a lot of open spaces and verticality,” adds Gerritzen. The ghost must be imaginative in how to attack and hide within the cellsblocks. You will also find some very close quarters on certain areas of the map. The prison map has quite a bit of diversity that at first glance could be missed.”

The Vertical Ascension device (VAD) will ensure that the Ghostbusters are not far behind even if the ghost controlled by the player tries to make distance using the vertical spaces. If the Ghostbusters are too far behind, then it can be tracked by PKE Meter. You will be playing a different Ghostbuster character and interact with Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stanz, the original Ghostbusters. The locations may be familiar to you. You’ll be able to see Ray’s Occult Books and The Firehouse.

IllFonic currently plans a fourth quarter launch of Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Ghostbusters’ 4v1 license makes the most sense. It will be interesting to see what this turns out.
