Genshin Impact ‘Capturing Light and Shadow’ world quest walkthrough

During the “Capturing Light and Shadow” world quest, introduced during Genshin Impact‘s Secret Summer Paradise event, you’ll enter a mysterious cave in the Veluriyam Mirage to find a large mural and a lonely Hydro eidolon. Uncovering the mural’s meaning can be a little difficult as you have to unseal four streaming projectors with the help of the Hydro eidolons, who are also somewhat difficult to locate.

Read on to learn how to unseal the four streaming projectors and complete the “Capturing Light and Shadow” world quest.

The “Capturing Light and Shadow” world quest starts as soon as you enter the cave in the southwest corner of the Veluriyam Mirage. To get the easiest access to the cave, get in the Choo Choo cart and follow the rail that connects to the Teleport Waypoint at the Southwest corner.

1. Drop down the steps at the entrance to the cave and you will find the Hydro Eidolon.

2. Follow the Hydro eidolon to the Choo-Choo cart, and don’t forget to open the chest along the way.

3. The Hydro-eidolon will break the seal of the projector streaming by allowing you to ride the Choo Choo Cart along the rail.

4. Dendrogranum can be found by dropping down from the platform directly in front of the wall.

5. Hit the Dendrogranum with an attack that is charged to interact with it and activate the nearby plant. The four-leaf symbol will appear on your path.

6. Turn to your right and face away from the wall. You will see a stream projector, a barrier of water and an entrance to a cave.

7. Hilichurls surround a Hydro-eidolon in the cave.

8. Beat the Hilichurls, and then follow the Hydro-eidolon to the Choo Choo Cart.

9. Choo-Choo the cart to the streaming projection, and the Hydro Eidolon key will open it.

10. To find the hole, turn towards the mural.

11. Turn left immediately after entering the hole.

12. Follow the path down to a Hydro Eidolon, surrounded by torches lit.

13. To free the Eidolon, switch to the Hydro character.

14. They can pass through the submerged gate by following the Hydro Eidolon.

15. Drop down the hole on the floor and climb up the fallen column. This will lead you to the eidolon.

16. To let the Eidolon by, light the torches using a Hydro Character. Then climb up the wall to get back to the original position.

17. Continue forward, then drop down until you reach the Hydro eidolon.

18. Then, follow the path of the eidolon. Beating the hilichurls as you go, reach the Choo Choo Cart.

19. The Choo-Choo Cart will take you back to the mural, and in doing so it will also unseal the projector.

20. While you’re still on the elevated platform, face away from the mural to spot the four-leaf sigils you unleashed before. As you interact with the four-leaf sigils, make your journey to the Hydro Eidolon.

21. The Hydro eidolon will lead you to a room that contains a chest with a lock, two Hydro statues, and an additional Hydro monument behind a hidden gate.

22. The last Hydro monument is behind the gate. Activate both Hydro monuments within the room and the Hydro Eidolon.

23. After you have defeated all enemies, follow the Hydro eidolon to the lower floors, where there are Cryo Pyro Hydro monuments.

24. As quickly as you can, activate all three monuments. If you’re having trouble, you can ask the Hydro eidolon for help and only activate two of the monuments on your own.

25. The eidolon can now unseal the final streaming projector.

26. Use the streamer to enter the mural.

27. Grab the four fragments of the glowing mural to reveal four different locations where you can place them.

28. Three fragments placed in three locations will form a bridge that leads to the final location.

29. Interact with the last mural fragment location to return to the open world and complete the “Capturing Light and Shadow” world quest.
