Game Infarcer: Video Essayist Spends Two Hours Comparing Video Game To Movie
Amazing feats of mental gymnastics are displayed by The Intellectual Gamer, an acclaimed video essayist who’s latest YouTube video explains why Sifu brings him back to his childhood. No country is for the old man – the movie, not the book, as specified by TIG at minute 36.
TIG’s video thesis, which was introduced with a paragraph taken from Diana Athill’s memoir of 2009, began with the opening sentence. Somewhere towards the EndThis text, which is too quick to read, says: “In Sifu as you go through the game you become older and more senior. Also, China is your country. Which, given the number of people you must fight in Sifu, you might say, is …” At this point, TIG lowers his voice to nearly a whisper to emphasize his point but mostly sounding creepy. “… No country for elderly men.”
TIG makes his case throughout the video (link here) but does not indicate which themes are similar to each media. Instead, he draws a parallel between them. Old Men Need Not Be Retired from the Countryand that Sifu is a much-maligned mechanic, where the character ages.
TIG presents his thesis on a personal level, putting it in between ads for Nord VPN VPN and Manscaped. I’d like one thought to end with. In the video, TIG shrewdly states that all of us will one day be old. Which country will be there for us when this happens?” “Until then, I’ll Sifu to the side.”
TIG’s video, appropriately titled “The fragility in life, as viewed through martial arts and Tommy Lee Jones,” received nearly universal praise from echo chambers all over the internet. While some pointed out his core thesis could’ve been relayed in about 30 seconds – and even then, hardly necessitated a video – the comments were quickly deleted under mysterious circumstances.
TIG told Game Infarcer that he has seen incredible growth in his Patreon crowdfunding page since publication.
He says, “It’s been wonderful to see this video connection with so many people that are happy to support my financially at Patreon dot.com slash The Intellectual Gamer,” and he advertises. This community is amazing and I cannot wait to have them join my Patron Discord server. That thing is not something I check. Is that you? They are not my friends. I have mods that handle all that – I don’t pay them, so it works out great for me. Is that the last thing you are going to print? This was off-the-record. Please, may I plug in my TeePublic?
TIG said that TIG’s next video would be a departure from previous videos. Although he won’t reveal any details, he did say that a “You Know, Fumito Ueda is more like Steve-O than most people think.”
