Futurama returns with 20 new episodes coming to Hulu

Hulu orders 20 more episodes FuturamaThe animated comedy sci-fi series ‘Animated Sci-Fi Comedy Series, created by The SimpsonsDavid X. Cohen and Matt Groening were the creators.

Many originals were used. FuturamaThe revival will see the return of cast members including Billy West (Fry), Katey Sgal (Leela), Lauren Tom(Amy) and Phil LaMarr (“Hermes”). John Dimaggio (voice of the evil robot Bender) isn’t currently involved, but there is hope that this actor will. Bender is one of the series’ most iconic characters, and if Dimaggio is not involved, the role will reportedly be recast. Tress MacNeille and Maurice LaMarche have been confirmed as returning voice actors.

FuturamaPremiered 1999. It followed 25-year old slacker Philip Fry who got stuck in cryogenic freeze. After waking up 1,000 years into the future, he joined up with a delivery service. The series ran from 1999 through 2003. Futurama It aired on Fox where it gained a loyal following and was then picked up by Comedy Central for a revival in 2007. That run of the show ended in 2013 — but this second revival will bring it back for streaming on Hulu.

“What I love about animation is that it’s possible for a successful show to take a pause and then resume years later, even on a different platform, and pick up right where it left off,” says Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation.

“It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama one more time before we get canceled abruptly again,” Groening said in a news release.
