Frost Giant Studios’ Stormgate Looks To Revitalize The RTS Genre

Blizzard alums are contributing their RTS expertise to Frost Giant Studios’ Stormgate, a brand new Frost Giant Studios game. You can see the debut trailer at Summer Game Fest today.

Tim Morten, production director and CEO of Frost Giant Studios, joined Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keigley on stage to reveal a little about the new Strategy title. He describes the titular Stormgates as portals that open during solar storms that unleash the Infernal Host onto a future Earth. Trailer showed glimpses of the Infernal Host, which was described as demonic, together with the Human Resistance (which is shown in footage by an archeologist) and the mech. Morten did not confirm the existence of any other factions, although they will reveal them in future.

Morten says Stormgate is built for approachability and is set to be free to play but won’t have any pay to win transactions or NFTs. The game will allow for greater social interaction. Stormgate’s campaign is also available for cooperative play. The campaign also features 3-player co-op and support 3v3 PvP fights. There will also be 1v1 battles for those looking for a more intimate galactic conflict.

Stormgate will go into beta in 2023. Anyone interested can sign up for Stormgate on their website.
