Be sure to check your settings before you begin

Forza Horizon 5 has lots of display, notification, and controller settings to set the game to your preference, and they’re available from the start menu before beginning the game. For those who use a gamepad, we recommend these options.

  • Difficulty: Steering — We love Simulation steering (over Auto-Steering, Assisted, or Standard). The extra control is necessary if you’re taking off traction and stability assists, which we also recommend.
  • Traction Control: Difficulty — Set this to Take offBe aware that high-torque supercars may require you to switch it off. While traction control keeps you from spinning the wheels (especially at launch), it also limits acceleration which is important when racing against more advanced AI problems.
  • Difficulty: Stability control — Always leave this Take offIt is. Also, stability control can slow down your car making it difficult to drift off-road. As with most racing games you’ll need assistance to maximize your car and defeat higher-level AIs.
  • Difficulty: Damage & Tire Wear — There is no XP gain from Cosmetic Only or Simulation damage. It’s just a wrecked (or driving) vehicle. We’d rather have fun without being worried about dinging up the car, so set this to NoneIt is possible to do this by clicking here You can still see the dirt on your car, if you want to show it after a race. To remove dirt and grime, open photo mode by tapping on the D-pad and taping the Left Bumper Reset Cosmetic Damage.
  • Difficulty: Rewind — You will not gain any XP by removing this assistance. Set it Continue reading because it will come in handy when you’re trying to nail a jump or land a stunt that requires repeated attempts, or if you’ve missed a checkpoint. If you need to go back or take a picture of something, rewind can be helpful.
  • Advanced Controls: Steering Axis & Acceleration Axis — These will help fine tune your gamepad handling with stability and traction control off. Follow the on-screen instructions to give yourself a stick that doesn’t overreact to slight nudges, to control your car’s stability. You will need this for steering. Steering Axis Deadzone IncreasedAnd The Steering Axis Deadzone can be decreased outside. This will increase your traction. Inside Acceleration AxisThe ability to reduce the Outside Acceleration AxisYou can. The clicks should be no more than 5-10 in each direction. The Deceleration Axis can be adjusted inside and outside, with Braking enabled. Anti-Lock on in the difficulty menu, you shouldn’t need it.
  • Video: Graphics Mode — Set this to Performance. The system prioritizes 60 frames per second performance over resolution. The better framerate helps you feel and understand your car’s responsiveness as you tune the inputs and the vehicle setup. It’s vital to a good-handling ride, and comes at almost no noticeable cost to Forza Horizon 5’s gorgeous visuals.

These settings can all be modified in the game. To do this, press Start.

Check your controls with the Introduction

Forza Horizon 5 The race-to the-festival sequence begins. You’ll be driving the 2021 Ford Bronco, the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe, the 1989 “Desert Flyer” Porsche 911, and the 2021 Mercedes-AMG One.

There’s no way to “lose” these races, and you can rewind as far as you want, for any reason. Use these sequences to get a feel for the different cars’ handling on different terrain. You want the Bronco to drift and slide without fishtailing, which means you need to be able to finish with a good counter-steer, one that doesn’t oversteer, at the end of the slide. The AMG-One should make gradual, wide-ranging changes of direction at extremely high speeds. It shouldn’t be able to respond to inputs or spin out.
