They will begin to lurk around FortniteFortnitemare begins Tuesday in-game. Epic Games originally announced the launch date on Oct. 1, but now we’re finally privy to the details: FortniteThe ability for players to turn into werewolves will allow them to be transformed.

The big draw of the event will be the new werewolf abilities that are “bestowed” upon Fortnite players when they visit Reality Tree’s Alteration Altars; there’s an emote there, Ritual Emote, that’ll offer up Howler Claws that unlock new, werewolf-y abilities.

Here’s what Epic Games has to say about them:

Wolfscent ability

You can activate the Wolfscent Ability by howling with the Howler claws attached. This ability lasts only for a brief time, then it goes into a cooldown. Tracking vision allows you to place a marker on any enemies that are within the radius. The Wolfscent Ability enters the cooldown immediately if there are no enemies within the range.

Are you being followed by tracking vision? Your sixth sense will let you know with an audible heartbeat, getting louder and louder as your hunter approaches… )

Slashing Ability

You get claws by equipping the Howler Claws. However, these claws do more than provide sharp nails. You can use the Slash Ability to unleash your full potential and execute a 4-combo melee attack.

The Air Slash Capability

The claws are what make you capable airAlso, slash. You can perform double jumps that inflict injury on your opponents with the Air Slash Ability.

Epic has opened Zero Build Horde Rush, a temporary mode that Epic created as part of Fortnitemare. Horde Rush, a cooperative in which players must eliminate an AI enemy group of enemies, is where you can play. Zero Build simply means that there’s no building — one of Fortnite’s defining features, but one that intimidates a lot of new players. Epic says Zero Build Horde Mode will stick around until after Nov. 1 “for a limited time.”

Fortnitemares will also include new XP quests — stuff like the emote ritual at the aforementioned altars, visiting certain scary locations, and using items like candy. Epic states that Fortnitemare will offer two quests over the course of the 14-day event. Here’s what you need to do to unlock the new rewards:

  • Everything’s End Glider — complete five Fortnitemares quests
  • Chrome Cage Back Bling — complete 13 Fortnitemares quests
  • Unmaker Pickaxe — complete 25 Fortnitemares quests
