Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier Shuts Down In January

Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is closing down. This mobile battle royale will be played on iOS and Android. This announcement comes just one month before the game’s first anniversary. The mobile multiplayer battle royale was released for iOS and Android on November 20, 2121.

Square Enix states that it feels it hasn’t delivered the experience it aimed for, so it will begin winding down service starting today. A roadmap on the game’s website lists a three-step sunsetting schedule. You can’t purchase Shinra credit from the store today, however, you will still be able to spend any credits that you have until the game closes. The support for non-English translation will end on November 1. Text will be only displayed in English from now on. Finally, the First Soldier is removed from all websites effective January 11.

We announce the termination of Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier’s service. Service will close at 07:00 UTC January 11, 2023.

Despite all our efforts to bring you regular updates with fresh and exciting content, we haven’t been able to deliver the experience that we were hoping to, and that you all deserve, so we have made the extremely tough decision to end service for Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier.

Thank you for your support over the last year.

Even though service will be over in a few months, we will keep you updated. We hope that Final Fantasy VII, The First Soldier will remain enjoyable until the very last moment.

October 12, 2022 – From everyone on the FF7FS team

Along with Ever Crisis, a mobile FFVII RPPG, The First Soldier was unveiled in February 2021. A closed beta has been planned for the year. A third-person battle royale was held before the events of FFVII. 75 participants were competing as SOLDIER candidate candidates. Players could also use magic or summons to help them with their firearms. Square stated that The First Soldier was an effort to draw a larger fan base to the FFVII universe and give existing fans a new way of enjoying its mythos.

The First Soldier will be leaving, but there is still plenty of FFVII content. Ever Crisis, Crisis Core and Final Fantasy VII Reunion are still on the horizon, as previously stated. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the next installment to Remake and will be available for purchase in winter 2013.
