Final Fantasy 16 Getting Two Paid DLCs, Free Update Available Right Now

PAX West, a gaming convention, took place this weekend. The cast of Final Fantasy XVI, as well as localization director Christopher-Michael Koji Fox, spoke extensively about the video game, its world, characters and much more. The panel began with a discussion about the game, its characters, and Valisthea. FFXVI producer Naoki Yoshida announced via videoThere is a free patch available right now for the game, along with the news that the game will be getting two DLCs. Yoshida revealed the PC version of FFXVI was currently in development at Square Enix. 

The highlights of the free update, which you can download right now, include alternate outfits for some of the main characters like Clive, Jill, and Torgal, and a transmog ability for weapons that allows you to change the appearance of Clive’s sword while keeping the stats of your currently equipped weapon. Patch 1.10 also brings other improvements to the title, including Arcade Mode changes, new controls, System menu options and fixes for various issues.

Yoshida revealed two additional DLCs for FFXVI. 

“[We’ve] seen so many opinions and reactions from our community of Final Fantasy XVI players,” Yoshida says in the video. “But one thing that came through particularly strong was how people wanted to see more of Valisthea’s story and spend more time with her inhabitants. The development team is working on two paid installments to accommodate this.

There’s no word on when to expect these DLCs, though. Yoshida has also stated that the “development of a PC-version is in progress.” He plans to release more details about the PC-version of FFXVI, as well as the DLC’s development by the end of this year.
