Final Fantasy 14’s housing lottery problem has been solved

Final Fantasy 14 You will be able to once more enter the lottery to own a home. Naoki Yoshida (game director, producer) announced that the system had been stabilized and will be back in action on May 16

If you aren’t familiar, the lottery is an entirely new system. Final Fantasy 14, allowing players to purchase housing much more efficiently — they were previously forced to stay logged in for hours, clicking on plots and hoping they’d become vacant. This new system allows players to buy a lottery ticket and see five days later if their ticket is a winner. While the tickets cost as much as the houses, losers are eligible to have their winnings refunded.

However, the first lottery didn’t go as planned last month. While the background data worked for Square Enix, the lottery winners didn’t display properly for some plots, telling players “the winning number is … 0. May you have better luck next time.” No winners were declared and all players were issued a refund.

The display problem has been solved. As of Monday, the affected players will be able check their tickets to see if they are winners. If they did win the plot, they’ll have until May 26 to claim it — and they won’t lose their refunded Gil, meaning they’ll effectively get the house for free.

Second Final Fantasy 14 Housing lottery starts on May 26, and will run until the end of time. If they win, players will be allowed to apply for a home five days before closing. Those who win but don’t claim their plot will lose 50% of the Gil they spent on the ticket.
