Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Series X/S Version Announced, Releasing Next Spring
Final Fantasy XIV finally arrives on Xbox Series X/S this spring.
Today, Xbox’s Phil Spencer and Final Fantasy XIV Director Naoki Yushida revealed the news onstage during Day One of Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival.
Spencer’s words:
It’s wonderful to see so many light warriors. We appreciate your warm welcome. Team Xbox loves Final Fantasy, as do many Xbox players. We’re happy to share the Xbox version Final Fantasy XIV today with Yoshida San. With his team we bring the Xbox version of Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox players everywhere. And through crossplay, it’s possible for you to experience Final Fantasy XIV alongside old and new gamers.”
Spencer claims that this moment is “a pivotal one in our relationship with Final Fantasy and you as we work to become more closely partnered together” going forward. Perhaps he’s hinting at more Final Fantasy coming to Xbox.
Yoshida claims that while the Xbox Series X will also be able to play the game, only the Series X version of the Xbox will have 4K resolution. Final Fantasy XIV Xbox will be released in the spring of 2020. The Xbox version will have an open beta before and during Patch 6.XX.
Dawntrail will therefore be available on Xbox Series X/S from launch. Final Fantasy XIV is only going to be released digitally for Xbox, just like it was on other platforms. The data from Open Beta will transfer over to the Full Version.
