Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore comes to HBO Max in late May

Fantastic Beasts from the Secrets of DumbledoreHBO Max will have the movie on its channel on May 30. This movie, which premiered April 6, is the latest in the Harry Potter spinoff Series.

Although it takes place within the same universe that Harry Potter, the film is set in 1920s. Newt Scamander was an awkward magizoologist who is the author and editor of an inuniverse textbook. This movie was his first. Amazing Beasts: Where to Find them. The sub-series’ subsequent movies have moved away from the fantastic beasts and their homes, and Newt continues to be caught up in the struggle between evil and good.

Albus Dumbledore has recently recruited Newt (Jude Lawy plays a younger version). He is trying to stop Gellert Grindelwald, the dark wizard (Mads Mikelsen) who replaced Johnny Depp. Newt has to put together a ragtag team — including his old friend, the Muggle baker Jacob Kowalski (Dan Folger).

There are, tentatively, still two more movies left in the Fantastic Beasts series, though repeated controversies involving the franchise’s stars and author J.K. Rowling herself have left its future up in the air.
