The second season of Game Informer’s Video Gameography podcast tackles Metroid, and then moves onto Halo, one of the most popular shooter franchises. Season 2 has come to an end. We will be looking at Halo Infinite. It was the latest entry in the series that served both as a dramatic reinvention and a return-to-form.
Halo Infinite launched December 8, 2021 (though its multiplayer launched in open beta a month prior). 343 Industries began the longest ever development cycle for Halo Infinite, after the negative reception of Halo 5: Guardians. 343 Industries clashed over its numerous ideas for the title’s direction, and an infamous first showing in 2020 led to Infinite being delayed a full year as it was originally slated as an Xbox Series X/S launch title. It was worth the extra effort. Halo Infinite received a positive response, even snagging. Game InformerIt is the most coveted Game of the Year award. What made 343 so successful?
