Spirit of Steam takes you into the steam age of British Railways. Take control of the famous LMS Jubilee Class locomotive, resplendent in nostalgic BR Brunswick Green livery, adorned with BR’s late crest. This express 4-6-0 can transport passengers along the West Coast Main Line and over the Runcorn Railway Bridge to Merseyside. As the LMS Stanier 8F Class locomotive’s hardworking BR Late Black guise with its 2-8-0 wheel configuration, it is better suited for hauling low speed freight trains.
Take a step back in time
Take a step back in time to 1950s Britain, and you’ll find the steam and smells of romantic steam age. A new simulation can be enjoyed by those who work hard in busy freight and passenger transport services throughout historic Merseyside or Cheshire.
To achieve an authentic 1950s recreation of the 36-mile (58 km) route from Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe, we used countless references including the National Library of Scotland’s Historic OS map collection, railway photographic archives, old postcards, and much more. Spirit of Steam features historic locomotives, buildings and signalling systems, as well as a reconstruction of LNWR signal boxes, which were constructed along the route.
Authentic Audio
Spirit of SteamFeatures authentic, detailed audio of the actual locomotives. The Great Central Railway was visited by our team. They were able capture real audio and could replicate it in-game. This allows you to experience the thrill of riding a steam locomotive.
