Everything You Need to Know About the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Open Beta on Xbox

The Modern Warfare IIXbox Open Beta begins tomorrow! Open Beta begins tomorrow! Modern Warfare IIIt will launch on October 28, but not before that.

There are new maps and modes in the Modern Warfare IIOpen Beta

The Modern Warfare II – Call of Duty Open Beta will feature classic modes of the franchise as well as bringing new modes into the mix showcasing Infinity Ward’s design focus and refinement across a variety of MP maps and modes. Here’s some intel on the new maps and modes available during the Open Beta:

Battle Maps (up 32 v 32).

Maps for Ground War, also known as Battle Maps together, are created based upon key insights from the creation Warzone: The Call of Duty’s Verdansk. These are the topline insights:

• Battle Maps can be accessed within the Ground War mode, and are available for 32v32 players.
• During the Open Beta you’ll have access to two Battle Maps: Sariff Bay and Sa’id, where there will be plenty of action on land, sea and air.  
• Both are nested in the larger world. Warzone: The Call of Duty 2.0

Core Maps (6v6)

• The Core 6v6 MP Maps are all custom-made and made for specific 6v6 game modes.
• Valderas MuseumIt is located in Spain with clean views, modern architecture, and easy-to-read thoroughfares.
• This is how it looks Farm 18, a training facility in an undisclosed location within an old, abandoned cement factory and a “Shoothouse” in the middle of it.
• Breenbergh hotel – located in the heart of Amsterdam’s bustling museum district and is broken up into clusters of rooms, which gives each lane some distinction and crossovers for flanking maneuvers.
• Mercado Las AlmasIt is small and bustling market with fast-paced lanes and routes that merge together to create pure frenetic joy.
• You can expect a solid collection of maps to add to your cart. Modern Warfare IIAt the launch of each season.

Knockout is a new mode

The Open Beta will feature new modes in addition to the fan-favorite core mode Domination and Team Deathmatch. Modern Warefare IIStart with Knockout

• The map shows two teams fighting for a cash bag. Running over the bag captures it for the team, with the bag holder’s position appearing on the minimap.
• You can either eliminate the opposition force, or you can keep the package. You cannot respawn. Teams can only revive one another.
• Keep the bag in your hands for at least 60 seconds. Or, eliminate every enemy team to win the round.

New Mode: Prisoner Rescue

What happens when you take Search & Destroy and crank up the stakes? Prisoner Rescue is a new mode made with innovations to the equipment in mind and with “breach and siege” gameplay front and center:

• Every team is assigned a prisoner, who they keep close to their spawning area.
• Locate and rescue the hostages or fight for their safety. You cannot respawn. No team revives are possible.
• Points can be awarded for each prisoner that is prevented from being removed (Defenders), for each prisoner taken or held at end of round (Attackers), and if the defenses are neutralized.
• Ensure you have enough teammates to defend your prisoner while pushing forward to secure the opposition’s hostage.

Invasion: A New Style

Enjoy a huge Deathmatch on sprawling Battle Maps.

• This is the definition of war. This is war.
• Loadout, Vehicles, Killstreaks, UAV and Counter-UAV support are all ways to earn points.
• Each team begins with 32 operators, supported by AI combatants.
• Neutral Killstreak Care Packages drop periodically across the map. Grab one — don’t be on the receiving end of one!
• Team with more points wins at the end of allotted time.

The Third Person: A new perspective

Offering up a new tactical way to play Multiplayer, so get ready for a change of perspective…

• The camera will be set slightly back from the operator’s shoulder in this mode. In this mode, you have more view of your surroundings and less depth of focus in front.
• You’re able to “shoulder swap” (change the view from your right to left shoulder), assisting you when peeking around corners.
• Your crosshair is automatically set in the middle of the screen, along with an “X” — sometimes in a separate crosshair — whenever the camera is angled behind an object. If you fire the weapon, this shows exactly where it would strike.
• When you’re aiming down sights (ADS), the perspective switches to a First-Person view, allowing for more accurate firing.
• Multiplayer support and certain modes Modern Warfare II are clearly defined “Third-Person” Playlists.
• The Open Beta launch plan currently calls for Third-Person and first-person Playlists to be kept separate. But, stay tuned.

Modern Warfare II – Call of Duty No cost Beta Reward

No matter when you’re accessing the Open Beta, get ready to earn the biggest collection of free rewards ever in Call of Duty history! A total of ten different reward items — including two Weapon Blueprints and an Operator Skin — can be earned throughout the Open Beta. You can equip these items in the Beta once you unlock them. They are not available for unlocking during the beta.
