Elden Ring wins Nebula for writing, the third for George R.R. Martin
Elden RingIt’s not surprising that the game keeps winning. The game won the 2023 Nebula Award, which is given for the best writing of a videogame. This award was presented more than a full year after it had been released. It comes after news of the sale of more than 20,000,000 copies within its first 12 months, making it FromSoftware’s biggest-ever game.
Elden Ring’s Nebula Award goes to Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin was a major contributor to the creation of the entire storyline and game. This is the first Nebula Award for Miyazaki and FromSoftware, and the third for Martin — though he has 14 nominations between his novels, short stories, and novellas, across his entire career.
Each year the Nebula Awards, a science-fiction and fantasy award are presented. They are mainly literary awards, with novellas and short stories as well as a Dramatic presentation category. It’s All Here, Everywhere at Once.
Elden RingThe game was released in 2022 on February 25th. It will get an expansion called Shadow of the Erdtree, but it doesn’t have a release date yet. Meanwhile, FromSoftware’s next official project will be Fires of Rubicon – Armored Core 6,The movie is due to release on 25th August.
