Elden Ring speedrunner beats game in under 20 minutes
Speedrunners have been inspired by Soulsborne to come up with new and innovative ways to beat them. Elden RingThis is not an exception. Speedrunners continue to find faster routes to victory. The speedrunner Streamer Distortion2 posted to YouTube what seems to have been a sub-19-minute playthrough of the difficult and massively complex game.
You can use glitches or other tricks in this Any% run. The 18:57 speedrun was accomplished on the old 1.02 patch of the game which allows for “use of force quits and the ‘zipping’ glitch,” Distortion2 wrote in the comments section of the YouTube video. (This includes, for example, the “Volcano Warp” that allows the player to zip to Volcano Manor, a later-game location.)
In the course of Distortion2, they use a mixture of sheer skill and exploits. To their deaths, they jump from the edge of the cliffs before glitching out to move to other places. They then run along ledges, taking shortcuts, and darting past mobs in order to grab specific items or upgrade their equipment. Prior to this new record, it took the runner 15 hours of attempts and “countless failed runs,” Distortion2 wrote in the comment, in order to finally achieve this one.
Since its release, runners have found new methods to win the game. Two weeks ago Distortion2 ran a speedrun that was under 30 minutes. The game has only been out for just over a month — many other types of speedruns are surely yet to come.
