Elden Ring players should keep a notebook

FromSoftware’s newest game, Elden RingDark Souls: Open-World Game, which brings Dark Souls’ game strategy into an open environment, gives players access to a large map and interacts with dozens of characters. What the game doesn’t provide is a standard open-world video game quest log, nor does it fill up your in-game map with icons pointing to quests and side missions, the way an Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry game might. You will need to be very attentive if you wish to find out which NPC directed you to where to deliver the item.

What is my advice? Keep a journal. You should also keep a diary. Elden RingIt may be difficult to tell the truth a second-time.

No matter if you use a note app or an ordinary notebook to keep track of your thoughts, it doesn’t really matter. Elden RingIt will be a great way to record them, promise me. • A character of high importance asked me to join her group of three friends at one point. One of them told me that he wanted to take me to a specific location in the Lands Between to help me with a mission. Unfortunately I didn’t find it on the map and was in a rush to get the job done. • The Lands Between is home to many distractions. These mines lead to smaller boss battles with less intimidating rewards, such as spells, weapons and talismans. The boss battle that I won was the one that got me thinking. I’ll come back to this one later. Well, it’s later, and now I don’t remember which mine that was, so now I’m obligated to revisit all of them again until I find the encounter I haven’t completed yet.
• You will find merchants all over the Lands Between. With one of several marker icons, I can mark these on the in-game maps. But I don’t remember which items are for sale at each merchant. But I don’t know what merchant sells which arrows or curative boluses. I wish I’d written that down a long time ago.

Yes, there are online guides and wikis. Elden Ring will eventually help alleviate the need for a journal, but it’s helpful to know which encounters and areas you choose to walk away from and plan to revisit when you’ve grown more powerful. You may even want to draw cute pot folks to soothe yourself after a tough boss battle. So don’t forget one of the most important items in your inventory: a blank piece of paper.
