Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree announced

Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware have officially announced the name of their long-promised story extension Elden Ring: It will be called Shadow of the Earthtree.

This announcement is made by the official Elden Ring Twitter accountFromSoftware published a single piece concept art. It showed a pale, blonde, white-robed figure riding on a horse through an abandoned, haunted landscape. A silhouette of an apparent dying Erdtree can be seen against the dark sky.

“Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together,” the announcement reads. “An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the EarthtreeIt is still in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.”

That’s it as far as the announcement goes, with no further detail on the expansion offered, and no release date given. The game’s official Japanese site confirms that Shadows of the ErdtreeAll versions of the original title will be available: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC via Steam. Xbox One is also coming.

Just ahead of its first anniversary, last week Elden Ring’s release on Feb.25, 2022, Bandai Namco revealed that the game had sold 20 million copies worldwide — a massive hit by any standards.
