Ed Boon Seemingly Teasing A Mortal Kombat 12 Reveal

Ed Boon has been stoking excitement with a seemingly impending announcement.

Warner Bros. David Zaslav informed investors in the February Discovery earnings call that Mortal Kombat 12 is planned to be released by this year. Initially, Boon didn’t confirm or deny the news, but today he tweeted out a short video of a clock hand dramatically ticking towards 12 while asking, “Does anyone know what time it is?”

An announcement seems imminent. This is especially true after the huge delay for Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. Summer Game Fest is less than a month away, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the hotly anticipated sequel pop up there. Mortal Kombat 11 came out in 2019 and its Aftermath extension was released the year after. Netherrealm, the developer, released Mortal Kombat Onslaught last year, which is a mobile role-playing game. Netherrealm, which has been releasing an Injustice title in-between Mortal Kombat games since 2013, appears to have bucked the trend and is going straight for Mortal Kombat 12.
