EA Is Shutting Down Apex Legends Mobile And Battlefield Mobile

Electronic Arts has ceased development of Battlefield Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile. Industrial Toys, a Battlefield Mobile developer, is also being closed by Electronic Arts. 

This news was part of EA’s Fiscal Year 2023 Q3 financial results released yesterday, in which the company revealed that it is also delaying Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to April and shutting down wrestling battle royale, Rumbleverse.

EA says it is ending Battlefield Mobile, which hadn’t been fully released yet (although many had played through betas), as part of a “pivot from the current direction to best deliver on our vision for the franchise and to meet the expectations of our players.” The company adds that it is hard at work evolving Battlefield 2042, which launched to disappointment from fans, and in “pre-production on our future Battlefield experiences at our studios across the globe.” 

EA claims that Apex legends Mobile is not meeting the expectations of its users despite its positive start. 

A statement by Respawn states that “At Remspawn, we strive to provide players games that are consistently exceptional.” Apex Legends Mobile’s content pipeline has fallen short of the high standards for quality, quantity and cadence. “After a solid start, Apex Legends Mobile’s content pipeline began to falter. After months of collaboration with our developer partner, we made the mutually agreed decision to end our mobile game. We are disappointed, but proud of our game, the Apex Legends Community supported us, and we believe this decision is right for players. 

All real-world money, in-app purchases have been disabled and the game has been removed from webstores. Players can use their existing Syndicate Gold to continue the game until it is shut down on May 1. EA states that it won’t be offering refunds on Apex Legends Mobile money.
