Dune Screenwriter To Adapt Gears Of War Movie For Netflix

Netflix had announced a partnership with Gears of War developer The Coalition a few months back to bring a movie and television project to its streaming service. John Spaihts is the new writer for this film project. John Spaihts was most well-known recently for his work with On Dune And Doctor Strange. Spaihts shared the following information in a press statement:

“Gears of War is one of the all-time great action games, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world, and a combat system that drives home the lethality of war and the importance of standing by your squadmates. It wants to be cinema, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help that happen.”

 In the same press release, The Coalition called Spaihts “a master storyteller.” The Gears of War developer will also be attached to this project as a producer. Below is their official tweet.

The project has yet to be released. Given that the writer was just hired, there is likely still some time before it becomes available. Although many people are probably excited by the idea of the movie being made, Dave Bautista seems to be more interested in getting involved with the production details. Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista has been fighting for Marcus Fenix’s casting since the beginning. In fact, he was made available to Gears 5 postlaunch as a playable Skin.
