Drive-Away Dolls is Ethan Coen’s lesbian road trip movie, and looks great

For a while, the Coens are taking time off from their role as The Coen Brothers and making movies independently. Joel Coen adapted the film “The Big Lebowski” in 2021. MacbethDenzel Washington, Frances McDormand and a brilliantly-staged black-and white version of the film. Now it’s Ethan’s turn with the first trailer for Drive-Away DollsA lesbian road trip movie looks absolutely fantastic.

Jamie and Marian are two best friends who take an impromptu trip to Tallahassee. There, they encounter a series of inept and absurd criminals as well as memorable side characters.

Even better, according to Ethan Coen himself, this movie is only 83 minutes long, a perfect length for any movie, and just the first in a trilogy of queer B-movies that he’s working on.

Drive-Away DollsPedro Pascal, Matt Damon Colman Domingo, Bill Camp and Beanie Felstein also star in the film. Ethan Coen co-wrote the film with Tricia Coen Cooke, a Coen Brothers regular editor.

Drive-Away DollsRelease date is September 22, 2009.
