Dreams Do Come True: A New Look At Somerville

Jumpship, the development studio working on Somerville, was formed in 2017, and it has some big names behind it. Geoff Keighley hosts The Game Awards. Two years later, one developer expressed his desire to be able to witness the studio’s first project live on stage. Tonight’s ceremony saw Keighley presenting a trailer for Somerville, a request he was happy to fulfill.

The trailer is tense and mysterious, and it switches between scenes of abandoned toys stores and those that show spacecraft speeding by. Although it doesn’t provide any information about the actual gameplay and the release date of the game, the trailer does showcase the incredible aesthetics and nail-biting tone.

The footage was given The Game Awards’ World Premiere treatment. However, it’s the latest of many looks that we’ve seen at Somerville. Jumpship, the title of this game was featured at Microsoft’s E3 conference earlier in summer. Although the trailer seemed equally mysterious, it did hint at the possibility that the game would take place in a quiet world, inhabited by aliens. We’ll hopefully soon see more from the game and we can get an official release date.
