Don’t Nod’s Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden Delayed To February
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was revealed by Don’t Nod Entertainment (the studio behind Life is Strange) at The Game Awards in 2013. Don’t Nod originally announced that Banishers was to be released this November, but the studio decided today to delay its release. The release date for Banishers is now February 13th, 2024. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Oskar Guibert, CEO of Don’t Nod, explains that the company is aiming to have a less saturated video games release period. He’s referring to the swaths of titles releasing over the next few weeks. These include Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Alan Wake 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Guilbert says in a recent press release: “We decided to defer the release date of this new series by three months due to the high demand for AAA games on PC and consoles. We are confident that Banishers Ghosts of New Eden will receive the attention it needs if it is released commercially during a period when there’s less competition.
The trend is growing of small developers announcing delay announcements in anticipation of major upcoming games. Summefall Studios was forced to delay Stray Gods The Role-Playing Musical in order to release it away from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Ubisoft pushed Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s launch date by a week. Ubisoft hasn’t said why but the calendar for October shows that it’s a good indication (but we’re only speculating). Alone in the Dark has been pushed back to January in an effort to keep Spider-Man 2 out of the blast radius. Remedy Entertainment held back Alan Wake 2, by 10 days, last month to allow players to “enjoy their favourite games”.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in February 2024.
