Disney’s new animated musical is about the Star its heroes are always wishing upon
Make a Wish is Disney’s newest animated movie, which will dive into the origin of one of the studio’s most iconic characters — the magical wishing star.
Just kidding — kinda. The movie definitely draws inspiration from the whole “wish upon a star” motif that crosses over multiple films. The story takes place in a kingdom, where Asha (a young heroine) asks for help from a star. And lo and behold, much like in Neil Gaiman’s StardustA star, named Star, falls to the kingdom Rosas to rescue Asha.
Make a Wish It will feature a unique style which combines elements of watercolor and 3D animation. This musical features songs by Julia Michaels. Anita DeBose who played Anita 2021 will play Asha. West Side Story, while Disney veteran Alan Tudyk — known for voicing a plethora of animal sidekicks like Moana’s Hei-Hei and Raya and The Last Dragon’s Tuk Tuk — will continue his legacy as a goat named Valentino. The movie is expected to have an ending. Lot of Disney Easter eggs, if that’s your thing.
Director of the movie is Frozen Director Chris BuckRaya and The Last Dragon Fawn Veerasunthorn is a story artist. Make a WishThe publication is scheduled to appear in November 2023.
