Disney And Bithell Games Reveal Tron Identity, Releasing Next Year

Disney and Bithell Games announced Tron Identity as a brand new PC game that will be available on Steam in the next year. 

The reveal was the first ever for Disney and Marvel Games Showcase. For those who are looking to find out more about the game the trailer seems more like a teaser than anything. The trailer does include the Identity Disc which can be used to combat in Tron’s world. But that’s it. Bithell Games’ Mike Bithell stated that the game is set in a world Flynn made an Ark. Flynn also created another grid to allow them to travel to. Bithell promised to return.

“As far as we can tell from [2010’s Tron: Legacy]Bithell added that, however, he didn’t. Tron fans will know, too, that time is much more fast in this world. We enter it thousands, hundreds of years after these events. How has that grid developed society and culture? This is a fantastic sci-fi story opportunity that we have been able create thanks to Disney’s amazing collaboration. We were able to tell the story in this new universe and continue on from Tron’s rich and amazing heritage. 

Bithell said, “Characters from Tron stories will not necessarily be present. But they’ll still be legends within this universe.” There will be characters that view them as gods, and those who loathe them. Three characters were mentioned during this interview as well – Proxy, Query, and Ada. The players will be able to control Query (a detective and Discipleof Tron), who was raised in a Tron world that heavily influenced the past actions. Proxy is someone who shows up in the aftermath of a theft – someone has broken into a treasured vault.

Bithell calls Tron Identity a puzzle game. The puzzles are interwoven with narratives and dialogue, which will feel familiar to Bithell Games’ Subsurface Circular might and The Solitaire Conspiracy. Bithell stated that more details about the game will soon be released. 

Tron Identity is coming to PC next year.
