Digimon Survive gets new gameplay trailer showing off dialogue, combat

Despite multiple delays, Digimon Survive As the summer approaches, it seems that more and more of these games will be released. We now have an even better idea of the game’s gameplay, other than pitting powerful digital beasts against each other in battle. Developers Hyde and Bandai Namco Entertainment America released a new trailer that showed tactical combat and visual novel storytelling.

You can interact with other characters and explore the world in the visual novel sections. According to the trailer, what you say matters and can impact “karma, affinity, and Digi evolutions.” Players will even be able to chat it up with potential foes and convert them to allies, à al Persona or Shin Megami Tensei. Next, combat will be based on turn-based tactics and players will arrange their digital monsters onto a grid-like battlefield.

This trailer only runs about one minute and a half. However, this teaser was a long time in the making. The game was first announced in 2018 to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary, and it has been delayed multiple times since then. The game’s current plan for its release date is July 29 — the same day as Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Whoops!
