Developers show off their scary and cozy games for fall
While Halloween has passed, the yearly influx of dark and scary content continues. While low-resolution horror games have seen a resurgence lately, I’ve rounded up a wide variety of work perfect for Halloween The coming cozy season. Color Fiction is our first game. It features a dark-skinned stag that explores a mysterious, painted world.
There are many dark deer and other animals in our area. Cool WIP, Polygon’s weekly roundup of eye-catching clips, and screenshots of works in progress. To give you a sampling of the most exciting up-and coming projects, Polygon’s staff searches the Internet for new and interesting games.
We also have this week a Lovecraftian-inspired game, one with comic-book art, a black and white shooter, and one that was inspired by Cottagecore’s boom. KatamariYou can transform -like environments to a 3D platformer using ragdoll Physics.
Unknown stag walks out of a forest to find a mysterious woman
Color Fiction, an artist and game designer created this work. This game is part of The Haunted PS1’s annual Madvent Calendar, a collaborative anthology of games. A clip shows the silhouette of a horse-riding stag through a dead and sparse forest. Comic book horrors abound
This game’s visual style is too horrifying to overlook. Father, forgive me is a recently released first-person shooter — or first-person cross-bearing game, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novels. The developers at Byte Barrel designed these dark, twisting monsters to look like they’re straight out of a comic book. With this charming mail delivery game, Cottagecore’s aesthetics are brought to life
We know that not everyone wants to be scared this autumn. This cute game is inspired by Cottagecore trends. You can find it here Mail Time As a charming delivery driver, you bring mail to the forest animals. Kela van de Deijl (the developer) has gained a lot of followers on TikTok. She posted a video that shows the main character running through the woods and glides. Mail Time doesn’t have a release date yet but you can see frequent updates on the developer’s TikTok account.
The black-and-white ghost shooter is creepy
Kingdom of the DeadThis list also includes a spooky shooting game. Dirigo Games shared a video showing its black-and white art style and a huge, bulbous spider climbing up to the character. I’m not a spider person, but it has a striking art style that caught my eye. The developer claims that it will arrive in the early 2022. More information can be found on the site. Twitter account
Low-poly paradise with dangerous fish
This game is the most unusual of all of these enjoyable and creepy-scary games. This 3D platformer is quite simple. Pain PartyThe game combines the best of ragdoll and poisonous swamp physics. Icehelm is the developer. posted a clipA giant flying fish could cause the character to be completely destroyed. There is no name or release date for the project, but its Steam page says the developer will release it “soon.”
