Destiny 2’s Solar 3.0 abilities detailed in new trailer

Solar 3.0 is on the horizon Destiny 2: SeasonHaunted. Guardians will be able to take up new, flaming abilities against their enemies in the game’s second revamped Light subclass. Bungie shared a developer video that explains some of these changes ahead of the new season.

Overall, Solar is moving away from the damage reduction it used to have — Overshields being a Void 3.0 thing — and instead focusing on the dual dichotomy of the sun: healing and burning. Solar 3.0 gives all classes access to healing grenades, allowing them to spread the healing identity beyond Warlocks.

Each class is unique, with Titans focusing on ability damage and Hunters focusing on weapon damage. Warlocks serve as burnt combat medics. Below is a per-class breakdown of the new Solar 3.0 abilities highlighted in Bungie’s video.

Titan

Consecration is a new ability that Titans can use to slam, and it appears to be an Aspect. You can have the Titan slide forward while flinging fire along the ground. The Titan can then do an overcut and then crash back into ground with a fiery smash. It looks like this takes the melee charging, but Titans have the ability to do it with a throwing hammer or a charge.

Warlock

We are shown several times the Warlock Grenades shooting additional fireballs at the surrounding area. This part of Touch of Flame Aspect improves grenades in many ways.

Incineator snap, a Warlock new melee that causes Warlocks to snap exactly like Roy Mustang in FullMetal Alchemist. It sends a wave if flames towards the Warlock burning all foes to a crisp. However, if there’s just one target, the damage will combine onto the single foe.

Hunter

In the trailer we can see Hunter touch the ground several times with their knife tip, creating a slight pulse of Light. It’s unclear what exactly this is, but it appears to be some sort of buff for allies.

Gunpowder Gamble allows Hunters to throw a group of grenades that have been taped together. The Hunter can fire the grenades midair to cause them to explode and do massive damage. It’s currently unclear if this is a unique grenade to the Hunter, a melee override, or some other kind of ability.

All of these classes still appear to have their old Supers and many old abilities — all of which have likely seen some changes. However, it’s these new abilities that will keep fans excited for the opening days of Season of the Haunted.
