Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s Void 3.0 fully detailed by Bungie

However Destiny2. The Witch Queen won’t add a new Darkness subclass to the game, the way Beyond LightStasis was added to the mix, and it will affect how Light subclasses function. February 22, Destiny 2’s Void classes will change over to the Aspect and Fragment system that Stasis uses. This will make it far more useful and flexible, as well as customizable for each player.

Bungie shared its most detailed look yet at Void 3.0 in a blog post on Thursday.

First, the studio reminded players about the new Void 3.0 “verbs,” which are, word-for-word, as follows:

  • SuppressIf suppressed the target’s active abilities are removed. The target is unable to activate any movement or abilities while suppressed. Combatants become disoriented.
  • Weaken: Target suffers increased damage, slows down movement and becomes disoriented.
  • VolatileIf the target takes additional damage, it will cause a Void explosion. The detonation will occur even if the target is dead before the volatile takes enough damage.
  • Invisibility: Player disappears and is not visible on radar
  • Protective OvershieldProtective Barrier: This shield instantly stacks over the player’s existing health, and protects them from incoming damage. The damage dealt to PvE combatants is reduced by Overshield.
  • DevourAfter activating Eaten from Any Source, the player’s health is instantly restored and they are granted grenade power. Once a player has been killed with the devour activate, their health is restored and they receive grenade energies.

Guardians know that Volatile is a synonym for the enemy’s ability to explode when they see it in a description. This is similar to Stasis’ verbs, like Shatter.

Next, the blog will dive into each class starting with Titans.

Titans focus on defense. In Void 3.0, they’ll have two Supers: Ward of Dawn (Sentinel Shield) (According to Bungie’s sandbox discipline lead, Kevin YanesBanner Shield now has a permanent place in Sentinel Shield. Ward of Dawn now can summon instantaneously, while Sentinel Shield allows for a more mobile and defensive playstyle. Titans will be able to throw their shield at will, and have the shield-throw melee ability.

These are the Titan Aspects that will be appearing in Void 3.0.

  • Demolition controlledHit a target using a Void capability or volatile explosion to make them volatile
  • BastionCasting Barricade creates extra shield for you and your allies. Those bunkering behind the shield will regenerate overshield over time and extend the overshield’s duration.
  • Bulwark offensiveWhen you’re inside or overshield the Ward of Dawn, your grenades will charge faster and deal more melee damage. Sentinel Shield Super also gains an extra shield throw.

Void 3.0 is expected to make Hunters faster and more stealthy. Under the new system, Hunters have three supers: Spectral Blades and Shadowshot Deadfall. The heavily reworked Shadowshot Moebius Quiver will also be available to them. Moebius Quiver shoots three arrows at once and makes tethered enemies Volatile. Deadfall’s tether anchor pulls enemies closer. Following the update, enemies can be weaken with the Hunter Snare Bomb melee.

These are the Hunter Aspects that will be coming to Void 3.0.

  • Trapper’s AmbushQuickfall: Quickfall allows players to activate it to expend their melee charges and to dive to the ground. This creates a smoke cloud on impact. Allies are rendered invisible and enemy enemies become weaker when caught up in the cloud. Snare bombs can also be attached to enemies or surfaces to make them invisible.
  • The Vanishing StepThe Hunter is invisible when he dodges.
  • Stylish ExecutionerInvisibility and Truesight are granted by defeating a Void debuffed target (weakened or suppressed or volatile). Your next melee attack will weaken enemies while you are invisible.

Warlocks’ Void subclasses are all about energy siphoning and — just as it is now — disintegrating stuff. The Void Supers of Warlocks include Nova Warp and Nova Bomb Vortex. They all function the same as before, but Vortex will attract enemies to the damage zone. Pocket Singularity will give Warlocks a melee attack that causes enemies to flee and makes them Volatile.

  • Chaos AccelerantTo charge your Vortex or Axion Bolt, Scatter, Magnetic, or other grenades, press the grenade button. Handheld Supernova gets charged by Magnetic grenades.
  • Feed the VoidDefeat your enemy using the Void ability to activate devour
  • Children of the Old GodsCast your Rift, to summon a Void soul. Your Void Soul launches itself towards an enemy when you hit them with your weapon. It attaches draining tendrils to the area and deals damage. Your Void Soul restores melee or grenade energy (if you are running Healing Rift), and health (if you are running Empowering Rift). Rift energy is gained by defeating an enemy that has been drained.

Void 3.0 will bring a significant shift in the way Void Grenades are used. All classes will now be able to select from the five different types of grenades instead of only three for each class.   • Echo of ExpulsionVoid ability causes enemies to explode. Intellect bonus.
  • Echo of ProvisionStrengh penalty; Damage enemies using grenades gives melee energy.
  • Echo of DomineeringYou can suppress a target to gain significantly increased mobility for a brief duration. Your equipped weapon will be reloaded from your reserves.
  • Echo of Undermining: Void grenades weaken enemies; Discipline penalty.

Bungie finally clarified the process by which players can unlock new Aspects or Fragments. Current Destiny 2 players won’t need to unlock anything, and they’ll start The Witch QueenTheir Void 3.0 subclasses are mostly intact. New players can unlock the Fragments during the New Light Campaign. Bungie did reveal that certain Fragments won’t be available until after The Witch Queen raid’s world first race.

Void 3.0 marks the beginning of a major capability refresh in 2022. Both Solar and Arc are scheduled for seasonal release sometime between February 2023 and when Bungie releases the Lightfall expansion. This will be sometime around 2023. They’ll focus on burning/healing and chaining damage respectively.
