Destiny 2: Season of the Seraph patch notes and changes
Although the year is almost over, there are still many things to do. Destiny 2The season has begun to change. Destiny 2Season of the Seraph is a story about players returning to Mars in an attempt to awaken the Warmind.
As usual, there’s far more to talk about than just the new season and its various activities. Season of the Seraph features new raid and seasonal weapons, a new Dungeon, changes in the Comp playlist, Exotic balance adjustments, and many other goodies. Let’s dive into it.

Destiny 2: Season of the Seraph
Season of the Seraph tells the tale of Rasputin the moody Warmind, who was offline in Season of Arrivals almost two years prior. For the Warmind to be reassembled in time, the Guardians will have to perform multiple heists along with work alongside the Bray family. Lightfall.
This season comes with an Exotic mission, which is unusual! It’s the first to appear in a season since Season of the Lost last year.
New dungeon
The game’s latest dungeon — which is called Spire of the Watcher according to the in-game collection — will test a three player fireteam with some new raid-like encounters and powerful rewards. This dungeon can be unlocked by players. The Witch Queen dungeon key, which isn’t part of the Season of the Seraph.
The Spire of the Watcher will release on Friday, December 9.
Deep Stone Crypt now has a new purpose
Craftable weapons are now available for the Deep Stone Crypt, the latest raid. Guardians now have the ability to dive in the sea with Season of the Seraph Beyond LightTake the weapon patterns and raid to find them. Once they’ve collected five patterns, they can craft the weapons for themselves, just like with Vow of the Disciple and King’s Fall.
Updates on exotic weapons
Bungie took a big pass on the game’s mountain of Exotics this season. Many guns, such as Borealis, that were inactive for many years now have the tools they need to be functional. Some other more well-known weapons were hit instead with the nerf gun. Notably, Witherhoard and Divinity — two staples of endgame content — have had their power reduced significantly.
Rework of PvP playlist
Years of being left behind, finally the time has come to be included. Destiny 2’s PvP-focused Guardians finally have a reason to hope again. Season of the Seraph will see a significant overhaul to the competitive playlist and will add a ladder system to the game’s real ranked mode. There won’t be any top-tier rewards locked behind the highest ranks, but any player can dive into the comp playlist to earn a new role of the Rose handcannon each week.

RAIDS AND DUNGEONS
- Vow of the Disciple has been updated to correct an issue that caused encounter challenges to become unintentionally active in Guided Games.
- Fixed an issue where the Regicide Triumph for King’s Fall remained visible when it could no longer be obtained.
- Fixed an issue in King’s Fall during the Warpriest encounter where players could bypass plate mechanics.
- Fixed an issue in King’s Fall during the Daughters encounter challenge that bypasse intended completion requirements.
- Fixed an issue with Duality that players could self-revive and be respawned after the end of their encounter.
- Artifice Armor pieces with bonus sockets that had been lost have now got their sockets back and are now able to use them for Season 19 artifact modifications.
CRUCIFIABLE
Playlists
- Quickplay (6v6)
- Now, it is a playlist featuring both Control and Clash.
- This loosely skill-based matchmaking system (SBMM) was tuned by us during Season 18.
- Weekly Rotator (V6/Free to All)
- Rotates between Momentum Control and Mayhem, Scorched or Rift every week.
- Matchmaking based on only connection (CBMM) is recommended.
- Competitive Division / Freelance (V3)
- Now, you can create a playlist by randomly selecting Survival, Rift and Showdown.
- The new SBMM setting is based on concepts that were developed to allow for more loose SBMM tuning. However, it has been tightened so you can match up against skilled opponents.
- Crucible Labs
- Labs will be showcasing 3v3Rift in Season 19 with asymmetrical maps.
- Labs have now a +25% reputation booster.
- Crucible Labs utilizes CBMM.
- Trials Of Osiris (3v3)
- Trials can be activated to replace Crucible Labs
- Iron Banner/Freelance (6v6)
- Iron Banner replaces Quickplay when it is activated.
Competitive Division
- Glory progression is deprecated.
- Implementation of a new competitive division ladder
- You can move through seven divisions based upon your ability in the Crucible

Quickplay
- Quickplay has a new matchmaking parameter: the fireteam size. Quickplay will see more fireteam-fireteam matches. As Season goes on, we’ll also be adding other playlists.
- The suspension amount for serial quitting the Quickplay playlist has been reduced.
- The remaining time for suspension messages was added to the message and the messages are now activated when you click on the node. This information will allow you to see how long you still have before you can start playing again.
Reward Program
- A new Crucible seal and title
- The Unbroken, Glory Related Triumphs of the Triumphs are remembered.
- Added new Crucible title ‘Glorious’ and new Triumphs.
- The Crucible Engrams
- Crucible Engrams, a virtual currency, will only work on Lord Shaxx’s Rank Progress bar.
- No Rahool required, players can access Crucible Engrams from Shaxx.
- Focusing on the Crucible Gear
- The Crucible Engram can be focused directly on either Crucible armor, or Crucible weapons.

- The Quickplay suspension timer can now be used separately from Competitive. You can now see the remaining suspension time.
- Showdown Heavy ammunition initial spawn time has been increased to 60s. It isn’t shareable and spawns only once per round.
- Rift Heavy ammo cannot be shared.
- Showdown and 3v3 Rift resurrect timesrs set at 2s, respawn timers set to 7s
- Mod rule descriptions have been added to the launch screen for all Crucible modes.

UI/UX
- Fixes an issue that prevented Colorblind color preview squares from being updated until you navigate away from the Settings screen.
- This issue was fixed, whereby the Fast Travel tutorial appeared multiple times in New Light.
GAMEPLAY & INVESTMENT
ARMOR
- Shaders
- Gambit Jadestone’s glow intensity has been reduced to match that of other shaders.
- This was to reduce the adverse effects of the shader upon fellow Guardians.
- In the future, there will be more shaders like this.
- Wormgod Caress
- Minimized maximum damage multiplier, from 7.5x up to 3.5x
- Winter’s Guile
- Minimized maximum damage multiplier, from 7.5x up to 3.5x
- Lucky Pants
- You can’t increase the severity of the jolted effect when it is applied using a Hand Cannon.
- Mods
- If you don’t have sufficient Super Energy to activate Restorative Finisher, it won’t stop you from finishing a finisher.
- You will need to point your sights at something before you can activate the Unstoppable Hand Cannon.
WAPONS
Allgemein
- The Settings menu now has a toggle for full auto in the Gameplay section. This will allow all weapons to fire at full auto.
- Reduced the size and intensity of Lumina’s muzzle flash in order to alleviate photosensitivity concerns.
- Omolon weapons now accurately display the correct liquid ammunition color while on the inspection screen.
- Once again, Shoot to Loot will be able to pick up ammo through explosion damage.
- When activated on multiple weapons, To Excess (Opulent Origin Trait) does not display a stacking counter. (This is not a change in the actual visuals).

- Drang and Drang Baroque reduced zoom stats from 14-13
- Fusion Rifle

- To make it more obvious to accuracy cone changes, we rebuilt the Fusion Rifle hip fire reticle.
- Shotgun
- A fixed pellet spread was added to every Legendary Pellet Shotgun family, along with a custom reticle.
- Aggressive: A cone that is evenly distributed.
- Precision (includes Duality hipfire): Vertical oval.
- Lightweight: Diamond.
- Rapid-Fire: Square.
- Improved precision representation of the reticle on the Slug Shotgun
- Rapid-Fire:
- PvE Damage Increased by 5%
- The reload speed benefit is now available at all times, not just when you reload from empty.
- Aggressive:
- Some shotguns were incorrectly using an intrinsic Aggressive Perk. As intended, all Aggressive Shotguns will now have an increased RPM upon a kill.
- Glaive
- For more accurate hit detection, the Glaive Projectiles were modified.
- Glaive melee attacks can now benefit from the Exotic armor perks on Synthoceps, Wormgod Caress, and Winter’s Guile.
- Reduced damage to glaive melee by 25-30% for Champions, minibosses bosses, bosses, vehicles, and other characters. Minors and majors remain the same.
- Base damage to Glaive Melee has been decreased from 75 – 67
- Grenade Launchers (The Queenbreaker) and Grand Overture
- The old blinding screen effect was switched to the Arcblind one, with a reduced screen effect brightness.
- Hand Cannon
- Rose is now a household name.
- Increased range of 38-43
- Stability reduced from 45 to 40%
- Handling reduced from 68-60
- It is estimated that 20 percent of the airborne effectivity can be achieved.
Modifications for Weapons
- By default, Surrounded and Rampage perks have their spec modification behaviors activated.
Perks
- Air Assault
- This bonus grants you a stacking bonus for increased airborne efficiency. Maximum 2 stacks, one for each final blow and two per aerial final blow. Every stack has a +30 AE.
- Headseeker
- Your precision multiplier will increase and your aim assist will increase with body shots. The timer can be reset with additional body shots.
- It comes with a base timer of 0.55 seconds. When the perk activates, body shots reset the timer.
- Encore
- Final blows give stacks of Encore. Stacks offer greater stability, range, accuracy, and stability (+8 stability; +5 range and +1.25% precision per stack).
- Final blows that are body shots grant you one stack. Precision final blows give two stacks. Maximum of 4 stacks.
- Lasts for 7 seconds, while Enhanced Encore can last up to 7.5 seconds. The final blows will refresh the timer.
- Seraph Rounds
- Eliminated +10% rangescalar.
- Now offers +7 stability and +3 range
- Tunnel Vision and Kill Clip
- If activated during active status, these buffs will be renewed for a longer duration.
- Kill Clip offers a reduced damage bonus of 33% to 25%
- Redirection
- Builds stacks of minor enemies, and then consumes them all (i.e. matches Minor Spec or other perks that utilize similar language).
- Häkke Breach Armaments
- Increases damage to Ward of Dawn, Well of Radiance and Ward of Radiance sword by 30%
- Base and artifact mod have increased the 15% damage bonus for Stasis Crystals by 15%
- Gutshot Straight
- Auto Rifle bonus body shot damage increases from 10% to 20%
- Compulsive Loader
- It is now active to 50% ammo.
- Perk intrinsic to High-Impact Frame
- Allow a small amount of movement, instead of turning off all movement.
- Ambitious Assassin
- From 5s to 7, the allowed time between last blows has been increased by 7s.
- Well-Rounded
- The duration increased from 10 to 15 seconds.
- You can stack the effect, but it will reset the timer.
- Recombination
- Corrected the perk so it works in PvP
- Maximum stacks of PvE grant up to 100% bonus damage
- PvP: 50%
- Zen Moment
- Now, a miss does not deactivate the account. You now have a 1-timer.
- Rewind Rounds
- You must be able to hit the Divinity’s cage correctly.
- Genesis
- This triggers the breaking of player shields.
- One Quiet Moment
- After a last blow, the reactivation of the brain is much quicker.
- Gun and Run
- Reduction in the number of last blows required to activate.
- Box Breathing
- Scout Rifles receive a 5% reduction in damage
- Unstoppable Force
- Reduction in damage bonus: 30% to 20%
- Two-Punch Punch
- Below are the reduced bonus melee damages:
- You can get up to 3x-2x to most unpowered enemies.
- For most charged melee enemies, 1.8x to 1.4%
- The additional bonus against bosses was reduced from 0.5 to 0.25.

Exotics
- The Fundamentals trait is found in damage-type switch Exotics such Hard Light, Borealis and Dead Messenger.

- Solar: +35 Speed of Reloading and +20 Airborne Effectiveness
- Void: +20 stabilization and +10 assist with aim.
- Borealis
- The magazine is now refilled with reserves after you break a matched defense. Your next five shots will deal bonus damage.
- Reloading will not deactivate the account.
- Jade Rabbit
- New perk design:
- Three quick crits landing quickly returns one round of the magazine and gives you your next shot at causing more damage.
- Can be combined with up to three additional body shots for increased damage.
- If you need to reload, reset the page.
- With the addition of the Full Auto setting, we’ve replaced the Full Auto Trigger System perk with something else on each weapon that had it.
- There is no time to explain
- It has been replaced by Feeding Frenzy.
- Traveler’s Chosen
- Surplus replaced the Catalyst perk
- Osmosis is still available.
- Vigilance Wing
- Ensemble has replaced Catalyst as a perk
- Dead Man’s Tale
- If both types of targets fall within the cone, then critical hits are preferred to body hits in hipfire.

- Lower ammo costs to activate between 6 and 4.
- It is impossible to be merciful
- The charge time for hit has been reduced and no longer resets after kill or reload. It now runs on a 5-second timer.
- When landing hits, the timer gets refreshed.
- Rat King
- Radius to activate it was required increased from 15m up to 20m
- Legend of Acrius
- Eliminated movement penalties
- Bastion
- Spread angle reduced by 6%
- This halves the effect of Season 14’s spread angle increase.
- Quicksilver Storm
- PvP Maximum Grenade Damage Increased from 80 to 120 Explosion radius increased from 3m to 4.
- Changed rocket damage between Arc and Kinetic
- Coldheart
- Reduction in the cooldown for Ionic Trace Generation from 3.5s down to 2s
- When you are dealing the maximum amount of damage, this will allow for max stability and fast reloading.
- To reduce the amount of time required to achieve maximum damage, you can now pick up an Ionic Trace.
- Grand Overture
- Steady increase in missile damage to the tune of 50%
- Xenophage
- You can now deal with a portion (roughly half of) its damage by converting it to impact damage or detonation.
- Global damage rose by 5%
- Cloudstrike
- The lightning storm will now correctly activate when hitting Divinity’s cage.
- Witherhoard
- Reduction in duration of taken blight from 7.5 – 4.5 seconds
- Divinity
- Reduced Divinity’s weaken from 30% to 15%.
- Self-improvement up to 30%
- Gjallarhorn
- Reduced primary rocket’s impact and detonation damage by 25%.
- Wolfpack Rounds damage unaffected.
- Arbalest
- Match Lorentz Driver’s reduced damage from body shots
ABILITIES
Solar subclasses
Gunslinger
- Knock ‘Em Down
- Golden Gun
- This bonus gives 15% damage resistance to Deadshot Golden Gun and does not provide bonus duration.
- Marksman Golden Gun no longer offers 15% bonus damage resistance
- Take Note: After seeing this play out in the wild, it was clear that there wasn’t enough differentiation between Deadshot and Marksman Golden Gun, primarily due to Deadshot benefiting significantly more from Knock ‘Em Down’s bonus duration (as seen by the number of Seventh, Eighth, and Fourteenth Column videos in recent months). These two supers are being pushed further apart. We plan to make Marksman Golden Gun the more relaxed option, where you can aim from a distance and Deadshot the faster option. Doubled bonuses and longer bonus periods were confusing for these individuals and didn’t allow them to breath.
- Blade Barrage
- Blade Barrage bonus projectiles have been reduced from five to three per group. This weapon now allows for 20 knives (plus43% base), a decrease of 24.
- Take Note: While it was refreshing to see Blade Barrage topping the charts as a change of pace, the stacking bonuses from Patch 6.1.0’s PvE damage increase and consistency improvements and Knock ‘Em Down’s bonus knives, in combination with other buildcrafting elements, pushed the burst damage of Blade Barrage above where we were comfortable with burst Supers being. While this is a solid option for burst, we believe it will not be as rare.
Dawnblade
- Celestial Fire
- Players using Celestial Fire or the auto-melee options have an increased close-range melee attack of 90 to 100. This means that they are not disadvantaged when engaging in melee combats.

- Radiant base length reduced from 10s down to 8s
- While equipped, the -10 discipline penalty is now in effect.
- Ember of Solace
- Radiant length now receives a bonus of 50%, and not a flat 5.
- It is compatible with Restoration behavior.

- The restoration x1 base healing rates were reduced from 25 to 20, 20 health per minute (40 health/second in PvE activities) and down from 50.
- The restoration x2 base healing speed was reduced from 40 to 32.5 Health per Second (65 Health per Second in PvE Activities, down from 80).
- No longer stacks with Healing Rift’s healing. It is the more powerful heal-overtime value that will be prioritized. This will prevent weaker heals over time from being effective.

Nightstalker
- Shadowshot: Deadfall
- Increased lifetime of tether anchors when activated from 8s-12s
- Shadowshot: Moebius Quiver
- Tether anchor lifespan reduced when activated from 8s to 6.
Sentinel
- Shield Bash
- When hitting primary targets under low network conditions, suppression is more reliable.
Voidwalker
- Nova Bomb: Vortex
- Increased projectile velocity by 21%
- Increased radius for the inward pull force on impact of 17%
- Increased force of the inward-pull impulse at impact by approximately 20%
- Take NoteVortex Nova Bomb feels like a niche item for quite some time. Therefore, we are trying to make it more viable relative to Cataclysm Nova Bomb. Also, we felt it was easy to underestimate targets within close-to mid-range. You can help your players hit their target with greater reliability by increasing the projectile speed.

- Coldsnap now tracks targets up to 0.5 seconds after they are created, instead of immediately tracking them and moving toward their last known location.
- Take NoteBase Coldsnap was failing to meet our reliability standards. It was getting too stuck in its environment and missing targets which had not changed significantly. Our goal with this change is to increase Coldsnap’s reliability without compromising the ability for potential victims to relocate and avoid being frozen.

- This bonus deal deals additional damage to Stasis Crystals and freeze targets on all primary weapons. Not just Kinetic Primary weapons.

- Tempest Strike’s damage to PvE combatants has been increased by 30%
Striker
- Ballistic Slam
- 16% Increased Ballistic Slam damage to PvE combatants.
- Touch of Thunder
- Storm Grenade
- Decreased Touch of Thunder’s Storm Grenade base roaming duration from 5s to 4s.
- The bonus lifetime given by Spark of Magnitude for the enhanced Storm Grenade was decreased from 1.5 to 2 years.
- Fixed an issue that caused the enhanced Storm Grenade’s effective area to be difficult to understand in PvP.
- Previously, the friend-or-foe ring surrounding a Touch of Thunder Storm Grenade’s lightning strikes blinked on and off between strikes, and there was no indication within the cloud itself of whether or not it was friend or foe. The ring is still there throughout the storm. Enemy storms now have an additional VFX layer inside the cloud, which helps to differentiate them from allies.
Stormcaller

- Travel distance increased from 27.5m – 35m

- Increased PvE damage by 50%
- Arc Soul
- Base damage increases vs. combatants in PvE from 35-60
- Take Note: With the release of Season 18, we increased Arc Soul’s base damage in PvE from 25 to 35, but it’s clear that wasn’t enough to help them feel particularly useful in very high-end PvE activities, so we decided to swing harder this time. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one as the Season progresses to make sure these are landing where we’d hoped.
- Chaos Reach

POWER AND PROGRESSION
- Fixed an issue where Shaw Han’s supply chest in the Cosmodrome could award items that have been removed from the game.
- Fixes an issue that made it impossible for some players to access Europa or Beyond Light content
FOCUSING
- It is no longer possible to view a focusing message if you do not have the appropriate items.
DARES OF ETERNITY
- Daily and weekly bounties from Xûr and Starhorse now reward Strange Favor reputation.
- Increased Strange Favor reputation has been earned from completing Dares on Legend.
- Destiny 2: Weapons and armor sets for Year-4 and Tangled Shore armor set have been added into the Dares of Eternity reward pools.
- Destiny 2 – Year-3 weapons, older destination armor sets, (from Io Mars, Mercury, Mercury, and Titan) were removed from the Dares of Eternity reward pools.
DESTINATION MATERIALS
- The game will disable all existing source materials for destination material. Destination materials will not be earned by players through interactions with resource nodes or opening chests. Players also won’t have access to public events and strikes.
- Glimmer, XP and destination material will be granted by resource nodes that are harvested instead.
- Destination materials removed:
- Glacial Starwort – Europa
- Dusklight Shard – EDZ
- Helium Filaments – Luna
- Spinmetal Leaves – Cosmodrome
- Baryon Bough, Dreaming City
- Microphasic Datalattice – Nessus
MATERIAL EXCHANGE
- Rahool won’t sell destination material anymore.
- Glimmer At Rahool will allow players who already have destination materials to their accounts to still exchange them, but at a lower rate than what’s currently available.
- Current exchange rate: 20 destination materials = 10,000 Glimmer.
- Rahool will make context-sensitive offers. These offers will depend on the amount of material in each player’s inventory. Players who don’t have destination materials will not see them.
- New exchange rate: 20 destination materials = 5,000 Glimmer.
- You can only see offers if you have at least 20 items of the related material.
- New exchange rate: 1 destination material = 250 Glimmer.
- If players do not have more than 20 of the related material, but less than zero, offers will be visible.
- This is the sole use of destination materials for Season 20.
- For previously deprecated materials like Etheric Spirals and Alkane Dust or Phaseglass Needles, these offers will not be available.
- We don’t want players to feel bad if they have thrown these resources away.
- Rahool is now allowing players to trade the following materials for Glimmer
- Dark Fragment
- Phantasmal Fragment
- Herealways Piece
VENDORS
- All Upgrade Modules now come with no destination material costs
- Legendary Shards will replace the cost of the Monument to Lost Lights as the source material.
- These patch notes mention that the Kill-Tracker Ghost Shell won’t appear anymore on Lord Shaxx, if it was already acquired. You may repurchase it through Collections.
- Failsafe and Devrim Kay will have their reputation systems, which require players to spend Dusklight Shards or Microphasic Datalattice respectively,, removed.
- Currently, it is not possible to establish a new reputation system similar to that of Finch on Throneworld.
- Sunset weapons will not be sold by these vendors.
- You can purchase destination armor without needing to rank with the vendor.
- The cost will be 1000 Glimmer, 25 Legendary Shards.
- You can now purchase the Emblems or Rewards that you earned by ranking up as a vendor.
- Ghost Shell costs 10 Legendary Shards
- Cost of Emblem: 25 Legendary Shards
- In line with other locations, you can increase the daily number of bounties at the vendor by 3-4.
GHOST MODS
- These Ghost Mods are being removed because they have no functionality within the game.
- Materialism (Vanguard).
- Materialism (Crucible).
- Materialism (Gambit)
- These Ghost Mods are going to see some changes in their functionality.
- Public Defender no longer offers higher Glimmer Rewards, but increases the destination material acquisition.
- Bountiful Harvest now gives increased Glimmer Rewards and no more increases in destination material acquisition
PLATFORMS & SYSTEMS
- Fixed an issue where, after joining a player through a Bungie invite, attempting to join a different player by accepting a platform invite will send them to first player’s fireteam.
- Fixed an issue where emblems rewarded by completing the King’s Fall raid or raid carries are missed by the raid metrics category.
- Problem fixed: Chat that was disabled in-game would not be activated when people tried to use text chat.
GENERAL
- New Light Completion has fixed an issue that subclass emblems could not be properly unlocked.
LOCALIZATION
- French Exo Stranger has had its voice talent recast.
- Castilian Spanish Exo Stranger voice talent was recast.
- Russian Mara Sov had to be temporarily recast in Season 19.
- Future releases will feature original talent.
- Portuguese-BR renames Lightfall expansion to Queda da Luz.
