Destiny 2: Season of Plunder patch notes
Tuesday, 23 August is the largest day in history Destiny 2 history. Bungie revealed the expansion 2023. Destiny 2, Lightfall, alongside the game’s 18th season, Season of Plunder. While Lightfall Season of Plunder, which is yet months away from launch, is full of new ideas and exciting changes. Fans can expect the usual seasonal stuff, along with the return of the King’s Fall raid, Arc 3.0, and more.
Let’s dive into all the major changes coming to Destiny 2The Season of Plunder patch notes will be available for the next three month. For Bungie’s official patch notes, scroll down.
Season of Plunder
Season of Plunder takes Guardians on an adventure through the Sol system as pirates. The Fallen Pirate Ships will be taken on by players and they’ll earn pirate-themed weapons. Season 2 will include many activities as usual. A new season pass can be obtained and a new area of the HELM is available to explore.
King’s Fall
Season of Plunder also sees the return of the beloved King’s Fall raid from the original Destiny. First addition in The Taken King expansion, King’s Fall will take players deep inside Oryx’s Dreadnaught, where they’ll take out multiple lieutenants before committing regicide. It’s one of the Destiny franchise’s best — and longest — raids, and will debut in-game on Aug. 26.
Arc 3.0
With Arc 3.0, this season will see the last Light subclass redesign. The three classes will be getting substantial tweaks. Hunters are even receiving a new Super. Perhaps most exciting, Titans are finally getting a dash to replace their Barricade, making them far more mobile than they’ve ever been before, and very dangerous in the Crucible.
Reworks and exotic updates
Bungie will also be improving several Exotics in this season’s Season. Legend of Acrius, a long-dead weapon, will get a Catalyst perk that allows it to handle Champions. Many Exotics can now deal with Champions. Bungie is trying to not only change the meta season by season but increase the number of weapons that can be used for endgame activities.
Balance adjustments
Season of Plunder will, like every year, improve the abilities and weapons available in-game. To make machine guns and bows more useful, they are getting upgraded. The new season artifact, which is anti-barrier and sniper rifle compatible with sniper rifles, will allow them to be reintroduced into the PvE arsenal.

- Standardized a group of buffs, debuffs which align to the Arc type damage.
- Amplified Increased movement speed, weapon handling and mobility. Once you have sprinted for a while, your speed and weapon handling are greatly increased. Speed BoosterYou can also increase your sprint speed by adding damage resistance for PvE fighters.
- You will be amplified by default if you quickly defeat multiple targets with Arc Damage. You can also benefit from amplifying your abilities and fragments with equipped Aspects.
- Ionic Trace– An Arc bolt that travels on the ground in search of its creator. Ionic Traces can be picked up to grant melee and grenade energy.
- Blind – Combatants become disoriented and are unable to fire weapons. Enemy players’ HUD is removed and their vision is obscured.
- Jolted – A destructive Arc Light is applied to the target. They take more damage as they jolt, and then they create chain lightning between nearby enemies. A target can be jolted multiple times to trigger chain lightning.
- When hovering over the Arc subclass screens, you will now see a flyout with a tooltip detailing all relevant status effects.
- Some of the subclass perks that were once popular have been removed. However, others can be rolled into Fragments and base abilities, as well as Aspects. This will result in some behavior changes.
- All classes have now access to Arc grenades.
- Grenades
- Storm grenade
- From 170 (80/90), to 120 (70/50), the total damage was less.
- Improvement of the damage area consistency in certain network conditions, to correct an issue where it was doing delayed damage.

- Pulse grenade
- The base cooldown was increased from 105 to 121 seconds.
- Vortex grenade
- This issue was causing less damage to PvE targets.
- Hunter
- Arcstrider
- Arc Staff
- Both Whirlwind Guard Block capability and Lightning Reflexes armored dodge are now available as the default behavior.
- Arc staff damage to minor and elite combatants has increased 12.5%
- Super new: Gathering Storm
- Arc Staff must be hurled forward. You can embed it on large surfaces or targets and cause damage to nearby targets. The staff is struck by a lightning bolt, which charges the device with Arc Energy. Overcharged staff releases lightning upon nearby enemies.
- A new jump was added Blink
- Arc Hunters are now able to recover from amnesia, which caused them to lose their ability to blink.
- The Disorienting Bloof
- This applies a brief blind to targets nearby, rather than a general disorient. It also amplifies your hit.
- Combination Blow
- You can also now recharge your class abilities when you defeat a target using this charged melee. This will increase your charged melee attack.
- The base cooldown was increased from 15 to 40 seconds.
- Tempest Strike
- Travel distance increased from 18m up to 22m
- To help Tempest strike land on targets close to its target, I added a little bit of initial tracking.
- Now, jolts the targets for hit.
- Base damage has decreased from 130 – 110

- Your next melee attack will increase range and jolt the target. It leaves behind an aftershock that can be very damaging.
- Blinding an opponent with melee strikes can also be done to a jolted victim.
- While using Arc Staff, your next attack strikes twice after dodging.
- The Ebb and Flow Subclass Node Perk has been removed.
- Nightstalker
- Spectral Blades
- 33% increase in Spectral Blades’ damage to elite and minor combatants.
- Titan
- Striker
- Fists of Havoc
- Now has Terminal Velocity’s slam bonus as default behavior.
- The slam’s bonus damage when activated from the air is now constant rather than variable based on your height when you activate the slam.
- Normalized light attack energy costs between top and base tree costs at 8% (previously 12.5%/5.6%).
- A heavy slam zone was calculated between the top and bottom trees cost, at 7 meters (previously 8m/6m).
- Fists to Havoc increased 25% against Champion, miniboss and boss combatants. The damage to elite and minor combatants has increased by approximately 40%.
- Fists of Havoc previously relied upon knockout bonus and trample damage refunds to effectively deal with regular combatants in PvE. We’d like this to be better able to stand on its own now to partially compensate for the increased attack energy costs.
- New ability for classes: Thruster
- To perform an immediate, first-person lateral escape, activate while you are grounded.
- Addition of melee abilities: Thunderclap
- Keep your melee button down while you are grounded and then charge your fist with Arc Energy. Press melee to move forward. This will unleash an enormous blast of force, which deals more damage for the time you held the melee button.

- Hit does not apply Inertia override anymore
- Knockout
- Now, you can also defeat targets using melee attacks to increase your strength and start health regeneration.
- Knockout can no longer be consumed by melee damage. Knockout is now only for 6 seconds. After that, it must be activated by breaking down a combatant shield, or severely wounding the target.
- The Frontal Assault melee capability and the subclass node perks aftershocks, trample were removed.
- Sentinel
- Sentinel Shield
- Sentinel Shield’s damage against minor and elite combatants was 12.5% higher
- Warlock
- Stormcaller
- Stormtrance
- Ionic Blink now has Landfall as the default behavior.
- Reduced damage to landfall seekers from 250 to 150
- Note: While the seekers added to bottom tree Stormcaller in Season of the Lost were a lot of fun, they made Stormtrance more of a shutdown Super than we’re comfortable with. It is also an excellent roaming option, and has improved base mobility with Ionic Blink. We feel we can reduce seekers’ damage.
- Stormtrance has stopped increasing its cost of attack when attacking multiple enemies at the same time.
- Note: We believe that Stormtrance’s greatest strength should be clearing hordes of enemies, and the increased cost based on target count was running counter to that intended role.
- Stormtrance attack vs. elite and minor combatants was increased by 20%
- Chain Lightning
- Chain Lightning, which is amplified by Chain Lightning, now makes two sets of chain, instead of one. It jumps between multiple targets.
- You can also now jolt your primary target.
- Increased lunge range from 4.5m – 5.25m
- Ball Lightning
- Ball Lightning is amplified and can explode two times more to cause three damage strikes vertically.
- An increase of 2 meters in the length of the arming form below the projectile is necessary to address edge cases where targets which the detonation region could possibly damage are not being triggered by the projectile.
- Arc Souls
- Amplifying your Arc Souls now, or being amplified by it, will give them a significantly increased fire rate.
- Increased damage per projectile from 25 to35 vs. combatants in PvE.
- The number of Amplified Arc Souls projectiles per Burst has decreased from 6-5, fire rate by 10%
- Notice: The uptime of supercharged Arc Souls will be significantly higher. We wanted more time for players to engage in safe PvP with an Arc Soul-wielding enemy. We hope the increased PVE damage offsets this change sufficiently, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it going forward.
- It was removed from the Rising Storm melee abilities, the Transcendence, Pulsewave and Arc Web subclass node benefits.
- Arc Aspects
- Hunter:
- Flow state
- Tempest Strike
- A Lethal Current
- Titan:
- Touch of Thunder
- Juggernaut
- Knockout
- Warlock:
- Arc Soul
- Lightning Surge
- Electrostatic Mind
- Arc Fragments
- Spark of Beacons
- A Spark of Resistance
- Spark of Momentum
- The Spark of Surprise

- Allgemein
- Blink
- Increased maximum displacement distance from 4.5m up to 5.25m
- The maximum vertical offset (how far you’re displaced from the horizon based on how much your aim angle is from it) was increased to 2m from 2.5m.
- Blink exits with increased forgiveness for mantling on ledges.
- Energy model reworked:
- Blink Charges were previously recharged one at a time. This made it difficult for players to know how many they had.
- Blink comes with a fixed activation price. There are two options for carrying multiple charges. Once activated, your previous Blink will recharge both of them immediately. We’ve also added a screen wipe and sound effect when this occurs, similar to Icarus Dash, to help communicate when you’re ready to Blink again. Blink’s overall accessibility is the same as before, however we have made it easier to understand and less frustrating due to the energy recharge model.
- Notice: This change applies to Blink for all subclasses with access to it.
- Blind
- To address the photosensitivity problems caused by previous white-out screenshaders, screen shader brightness was significantly reduced.
- Ionic Traces
- You can no longer get Super Energy on Pickup
- For increased uptime expected, reduced melee, grenade and class ability energy returning to compensate
- Basal melee energy returns have been decreased from 20% to 12.5%
- The base grenade energy return has been reduced by 15% to 12.5%
- Basal class energy return for base classes has been reduced by 25% to 15%
- Restoration
- Fixed an issue where Restoration x2 could be removed by some PvE combatants’ attacks and certain debuffs like Overload rounds.
- Arc-focused Exotic armour updates
- Crown of Tempests
- Now Conduction Teeth can also be activated by defeating targets that have jolt damage.
- Go Away Artist
- This will amplify you and grant an Arc Soul to consume your grenade.
PLATFORM & SYSTEMS
- Problem with PlayStation platform where text displayed in multiple areas of the game had been fixed.
GENERAL
- Fixes an issue that text chat messages would persist when a player is kicked to the login screen but does not exit the game.
- Now, Glimmer pickups are capable of playing dematerialization-VFX when they’re picked up.
- Additional key binding options available for vehicles that allow for lateral dodging.
- Stadia is experiencing an issue where titles for certain settings do not appear as they should. Team members are aware of the problem and will fix it in a hotfix.
- With more information, updated tooltips on various vehicle key binding options.
- Many key bindings are missing or wrongly defined for vehicle keys.
- Destiny 2 available now in Epic Games Store
