Destiny 2 Lightfall release time: When will Destiny 2 servers be back online?

Destiny 2’s next expansion, LightfallIt is only 24 hours from launch.

New expansions are huge moments for Bungie’s shared world shooter — introducing a new campaign, the planetary destination Neomuna, a new subclass in Strand, and in future weeks, a new raid to tackle with five other players.

All players aged 6 will see a variety of changes to their quality of life, including mod managers and loadout, as well as the introduction of the Guardian Ranks progression system and more.

Destiny 2 Lightfall: When are Destiny 2 servers expected to be online again?

As noted, some platforms require some additional hard drive room for pre-loading. This is temporary, meaning once the update has launched at the above times, you’ll gain the remaining space back.

Though these updates are large, Bungie has said “this new installation will improve load times, and overall disk space usage will be smaller afterwards” — so the initial faff should be worth it in the long run!

What’s new in Destiny 2 Lightfall?

These additions can be found at Lightfall and Year 6 are many and varied — from new expansion staples (including a new planetary destination, campaign, and raid) through to a number of quality of life changes available to all Destiny 2 Players regardless of whether or not they have purchased the expansion.

Additions to Lightfall

  • The new campaign includes an optional Legendary difficulty

Six-year anniversary of system improvements and enhancements to quality of life

  • Mod managers and loadout to assist with build crafting
  • Guardian Ranks system for returning and new players
  • Power level increases
  • Artifact mods become passive perks and are never unlocked until the season is over.
  • A significant increase in difficulty across many end-game challenges. (More on Bungie.net).
  • Tuning changes for weapon weapons, including heavy grenade, machine gun and kinetic weapon buffs. There are also tweaks that can be made to specific perks or other modifications (more information on Bungie.net).
  • There are certain adjustments to weapon crafting that can be made so weapons cannot be created with Deepsight Recsonance targets
  • Seasonal Engrams to replace Umbral Engrams
  • Vanguard vendor Zavala can focus Vanguard-specific armor and weapons with engrams. Nightfall weapons will also be available (once unlocked).
  • Iron Banner will be back three times per season (up from two per season in Years 5; dates TBC).
  • A number of items and currencies will also be removed from the player inventory or must be manually deleted once Year 6 begins (more information on Bungie.net).
