Deep Water trailer: Ben Affleck, Ana de Armas’ erotic thriller ready to release

Two major releases are in store for fans of sexually-tinged dramas in 2022: Blonde, Netflix’s supposedly NC-17 Marilyn Monroe biopic directed by Jesse James’ Assassination’ Andrew Dominick with Ana de Armas as the star; Deep WaterAdrian Lyne’s new erotic thriller, titled????9 ¹⁄₂Weeks, Fatal Attraction() Starring Ben Affleck, and perhaps also Ana de Armas. The fate of Blonde remains unknown (though Netflix promised a release this year in its big 2022 preview), this Valentine’s Day brings the good news that Deep Water is going to steam — er, stream — on Hulu this March.

A new teaser trailer arrived on Monday, introducing us to de Armas and Affleck’s brand of lust-filled stares. At around one minute of footage, it’s the ultimate tease for a much-discussed, never-seen film. The pair of actors joined Fox’s Deep Water in August 2019, and the excitement was immediate: Lyne had not made a film since 2002’s InfidelityHe had now two beautiful movie stars available to take R-rated roles in the Patricia Highsmith adaptation. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. In the midst of production, Affleck became involved with de Armas romantically. This added to the excitement and intrigue. Affleck and de Armas split up after the pandemic and their release date was delayed. A small movie full of promise lost in the confusion of a new world order.

Disney-Fox acquired the rights to potential Disney-Fox release Deep WaterIt is even more challenging to visualize. Where did the movie belong in the conglomerate’s IP-forward strategy? Hulu, apparently. The company made the announcement in December 2021 that it would be able to host the film on their more adult-friendly streaming site.

Based on the official synopsis, Lyne’s film promises to “take us inside the marriage of picture-perfect Vic (Affleck) and Melinda (de Armas) Van Allen to discover the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them.”

Personally, I can’t wait to be one of the people caught up in them. Deep WaterHulu will be launching March 18
