Dead Island 2 Survivor Dani Is An Irish Punk Rocker With A Roller Derby Match To Catch
Dead Island 2 features six viable survivors, and it will be available right off the bat. Perhaps you are already familiar with Jacob, the Lenny Kravitz-esque character in Dead Island 2. re-reveal trailer for Dead Island 2. I was able to play Dead Island 2 for seven hours during my trip as a cover writer, but Jacob wasn’t there. However, I was able to spend a bit of time with Ryan and Dani, who are two different survivors, which adds a unique flair to this story about the zomb-pocalypse.
This cover story trip made me believe Dani was the one who survived, and Ryan, on the other hand, was a great choice. The other survivors aren’t yet here, so I couldn’t play. Dennoch, Dani is the subject of my attention. Dambuster Studios also has Dani (read Ryan here).
Los Angeles: Where is the Problem?
Los Angeles, as you probably know, has fallen to hell. Both Dambuster Studios’ characters and Dambuster Studios team affectionately refer to this once vibrant and beautiful city as Hell A. However, Hell-A remains beautiful and vibrant, but it is only for a few, such as Dani.
Dead Island 2 is set in the final days of an evacuation operation to remove non-infected people from Los Angeles. This sequel is set approximately a decade after Dead Island 1. While logic suggests that Dead Island 2 has the same zombie virus as Banoi’s, it’s not necessarily true. Khan, Dead Island 2’s narrative designer tells me that the evacuation was “surprisingly effective.” After the military had surrounded the city, Khan explained that quarantine was decided to protect the remaining areas of LA from the spread of the disease. The studio says that this is when the island element of the game’s name comes into play. No one goes in, no one goes out.
Every survivor will be met by you on board the last flight out of LA. They discover that someone aboard is infected. Protocol results in the military shooting this plane down – can’t have any infected leaving the city, after all – and it crash lands into Hell-A. After this, Dani became my preferred survivor and I was introduced to zombies and their combat. Dani is soon bit and this is where Dead Island 2 begins. You’re now infected but not turning. This information along with your blood will help you get to someone who can assist you.
We now know the origin story of Dani in Dead Island 2 so let’s discuss why Dani thrives in Hell A.
Meet Dani
Khan says Dani was born in County Cork, Ireland. It is a lovely place and doubles up as a student community. As a result, there is a lot more music and nighttime activities. Growing up, she was surrounded by a Stepford mother and two “equally beige” sisters. She grew up with a father who is able to choose not to deal with emotional conflict and instead go fishing. Dani was always the “fish out of water” in her family. She has always had a little bit of an edge. She isn’t comfortable in her own skin and does not have an especially close relationship with her parents.
Dani finds the punk scene all around her town and this shapes her life and teenage years. Dani moves to County Cork as soon as possible. Khan said that Boston has an extensive Irish community. Dani jumps over the pond. According to Khan, this works well for Dani as a pub with an Irish name means that you are “always guaranteed employment if your accent is Irish.” Dani is infatuated with Boston’s punk scene. But then, Boston snow hits.
“[She says] F— that and traveled with an MIT student returning home in a road trip across the country to the warmest place she heard of – California – and knew, that’s where the nice weather is, and she wanted to just go to paradise. She feels like, ‘I escaped this very parochial, very conservative, very you-must-be-the-correct-way family and history’ and just never wanted to be that again. That’s how she got to LA.
Dani finds roller derby in LA and becomes her new passion. Although she is still a punk girl hailing from Ireland, roller derby has become her way of expressing herself. Khan comments on Dani’s hobby beyond roller derby aggression, and remarking how Dani relied upon mosh pits for her feelings.
Dani has been working in jobs that she does not care about like food service and retail. Her employers let her go far more often than she would like to admit, because she is a bit too open-minded to listen to her customers. Khan claims that she wasn’t working for her living, but was actually trying to make a living. She was living the life of a 20-something-year-old in California and loving it. Her family is her priority, so she doesn’t mind going home in the event of the zombie apocalypse. She is loyal to her team and it’s time for her to go roller derby out of state.
Khan comments on Dani’s priorities, “That’s the first thing.” “She’s determined to help her chosen family, her chosen friends, whatever the cost. It all becomes a little strange.
Dani’s Innate skills
In Dead Island 2, you can transform your survivor into any type of character that suits your needs, such as loadout and skills. Two innate abilities are what each survivor has and will guide you in your search for the right character.
Dani
- Thunderstruck: Heavy attacks release a powerful explosion on impact.
- BloodlustAfter a series of quick attacks, Dani is able to regain his health.
Khan asserts that Dead Island 2 is “gameplay first and combat first”, so the characters were drawn out first as playable survivors. Then, they became fully-realized characters. This allowed the narrative team to “reverse engineer” survivor personalities. Dani is an expert in heavy attack. Why? Khan and the narrative team had to respond with details about Dani’s character.
Khan says that the last thing she wanted to do was draw a portrait of an Irish woman. I wanted someone modern and California-minded. Someone who loves to f—ing up and is as gleeful, joyful and as naive as she can be. She’s an enlightened berserker. She isn’t rewarded for doing good work, and she excels at this. You can’t dismiss roller derby as a hobby or sport. She is doing her best at what she does. We ask ourselves, “Why is she so good at what she does?” We then reverse engineer the situation.”
