Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is part true crime, part Saw

Dark Pictures Anthology’s games are based on a horror classic: An assortment of people stumble upon a horrible situation. They must then make a choice, take quick actions, explore, and try to escape alive. The player is the survivors’ shepherd. An unfortunate choice can result in a horrible end, whether it is accidental or part of an evil plot to murder the cast.

The goal is to enjoy a good story — and if you’re lucky, everyone makes it out alive. You can find the next installment in the anthology here. Me and the DevilSupermassive Games first revealed the game with a Saw-style teaser. It looks to be one of the funniest takes on this formula. While previous Dark Pictures games have starred a group of young adults on a vacation, a college class, and a military unit, this time, we’re getting the production cast of a small-budget serial killer show titled Architecture and Murder. They’re running out of money and ideas, and they Not requiredIf they want to finish a season, this is the season.

To save the day, Swooping In is an eccentric patron who offers to let the crew his estate. It’s a large building that was modeled after H.H. Holmes’ infamous hotel. Holmes, one of the original urban serial killers in America was able to use grifted cash and stolen labor to create an hotel. The hotel would then be used for a host of other murder rooms and laboratories. Holmes didn’t just murder his victims; he also bought their skulls to collect life insurance. This would be a wonderful find for production crew. Architecture and MurderAll they have to do it show up.

How could anything go wrong? Everything turns out to be fine. This patron is not a kind and supportive fan of local television but more of an evil slasher. H.H. Holmes and the cultural phenomenon of H.H. Me and the DevilThis is in addition to classic slasher flicks like Psycho, Friday 13thAnd Shining.

Although there are some quick-time actions that allow players to shoot a firearm, keep their hands on the ground, and secure explosives, most pivotal decisions can be made through dialogue. The players can pick what they want to see if the characters are arguing or forming a relationship through humor. Some of the best moments from the Dark Pictures games come from leaning into a character’s worst traits and watching chaos ensue. Sometimes, you want everyone to live, and other times, it’s very satisfying to watch your least favorite character bite the dust.
