Crunchyroll Is Now Available On Switch

Crunchyroll is an animated streaming app that launched on Switch today.

That’s noteworthy for two reasons. It adds another streaming platform to Switch. This is a service that offers limited options for movies and TV viewing. Switch owners still only have Hulu, YouTube, Funimation, and Pokémon TV to turn to. There’s also Twitch if you prefer watching streamers. Two, it comes after Sony’s billion-dollar acquisition of the service in December 2020, showing that the company has no intention to prevent Crunchyroll from further spreading its wings to other platforms.

Crunchyroll on Switch, which is powered by Unreal Engine, is the first video app on the console to offer offline viewing. That means you won’t need an internet connection to catch up on Demon SlayerYou can use it at the car park, or while you are driving. Crunchyroll, a subscription service that offers one of the most extensive anime collections in the world, lets you stream the shows on the day they are released in Japan.

Although the Switch is a great addition, it still doesn’t have streaming giants such as Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max. This has made it difficult for Switch owners to enjoy their favourite shows from anywhere. If you’re not into anime, that leaves Hulu as the only real option. Although we hope that this will change, Hulu is the only real option for you. However, considering that Switch went five years without Netflix, it’s best to not get too excited.
