Cover Reveal – Street Fighter 6

Capcom prepares the next mainline entry to its favorite fighting series. It’s now taking the fight into a new arena, the Cover of Game Informer. This is right! Our next issue features Street Fighter 6 as the cover. The cover art, created by designer Goro Tokuda, features one of the original World Warriors, Ken, sporting his new look. Capcom and everyone else have seen all the jokes you made about Ken’s appearance in this game. But we went to Osaka, Japan to see what was happening to one of the most famous characters in the franchise.

The game was played by us while we were there. We also had many conversations with the developers. They shared their lessons from Street Fighter V’s disastrous launch and discussed a possible new method of playing Street Fighter 6. Shuhei Yamamoto and director Takayuki Nakayama took us to the local gaming center so that they could battle it out in Street Fighter II and Street Fighter IV arcade cabinets. We also spoke with Capcom about the 35-year history of Street Fighter V. You can also find our huge series retrospective in the same issue. This leads directly to our story on Street Fighter 6’s offerings.

Street Fighter is our favorite game, but issue 351 has so many more. I was not the only person who traveled to find a great story. Matt Miller traveled across the globe to New Caledonia (France) to discover the story behind Tchia, the exciting new game. Blake Hester traveled to Tokyo with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio in order to speak to them about the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. Alex Van Aken traveled to Los Angeles for a meeting with Yacht Club Games. He also got a look behind the scenes at Mina The Hollower which is the studio’s next major game. Reid McCarter, a contributor to this issue, explores the use of visual storytelling by Naughty Dog in its series “The Last of Us”.

On top of that, we also have our annual Holiday Buying Guide, which might help you pick out a gift for the nerd in your life – even if that nerd is you! Our preview section gives you a sneak peek at some of the upcoming big games. This month, we have info dumps on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Rise of the Ronin, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Like a Dragon: Ishin, and plenty more.

Also, we have Game Informer Gold Version of this issue.
