Cover Reveal – Sonic Superstars
Sonic Superstars was one of the biggest announcements at Summer Game Fest in 2023. We’re now diving into this exciting 2D adventure featuring Sega’s Blue Blur. Sonic Team studios in Burbank California was our home for two days, where we played through the first half of the Classic Sonic game. We also spoke to the developers. Cover story and our coverage will be spread over the following month to give you as much information about Sonic Superstars.
Mark Hughes created our cover this month. He has worked for IDW Comics, Sega and many other companies. The art depicts the four playable characters – Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy – standing in the spotlight on the front, with Dr. Eggman begrudgingly refusing to stand in the spotlight on the back. Chaos Emeralds appear in the artwork to show off Sonic Superstars’ new Emerald Power mechanic. You’ll learn a lot more about the Emerald Powers, never-before-seen zones, the return of Sonic co-creator Naoto Ohshima to the series, and much more in our 12-page cover story!
There’s more in this issue than that! Issue 358 contains a lot of information! Game Informer Blake Hester delivers a profile on the fascinating career of Hi-Fi Rush’s director John Johanas. Contributor Demi Phillips also has an examination of the burgeoning gaming scene in Nigeria. Meanwhile, contributor Ben Bertoli celebrates 40 years of the Nintendo Famicom and its sometimes bizarre history. Charles Harte delves into the new musical RPG Stray Gods. Kyle Hilliard writes an article on gaming experience, not obligation.
This is not to mention our entire suite of pre-releases which include Super Mario Bros. Wonder (and many more), Payday 3, Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Persona 5 Tactica and Penny’s Big Breakaway.
