Cover Reveal – God of War Ragnarök
God of War Ragnarök is set to conclude the Norse era of the series, a saga that’s seen Kratos atone for his troubling past by becoming a more conscientious god and (mildly) affectionate father. Atreus and Kratos will have to stop a planned catastrophe and call on their friends old and new in order to defeat Asgard.
Eric Williams (God of War) is a veteran who was recently appointed as director. I also talked to several lead UX and combat designers about how they created the sequel. Moreover, you’ll learn about Kratos’ tools/toys, a never-before-seen dwarven realm that feels lived in, the unprecedented number of accessibility features available at launch, and some quality-of-life updates, including new navigation mechanics.
Of course, that’s not all. We’ve got other God of War content for your perusal, including a ranking of our five favorite bosses from the franchise. Alex Van Aken was also present at Evo. He compared it to the Olympics. Marcus Stewart had the opportunity to meet the next installment in Street Fighter 6, the most recognizable fighting franchise ever. Some freelance articles are also available. –For example, one documents the creation of Cuphead levels. And if you’re wondering what big games are on the horizon, we’ve got you covered with preview pages dedicated to Square Enix’s role-playing farming sim, Harvestella, Game Freak’s Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and so much more.
This issue’s cover art has been in the works for some time, and its level of detail is a testament to that. Atreus and Kratos are confronted by armored warriors. Reptilian creatures scurry in the arena from all directions, while the Huldra brothers prepare their weapons from high above, while a dragon flies through the clouds. Fire beams collide violently with distant mountain ranges, all the while.
