Cover Reveal – Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon

From Software’s surprising success comes as a shock to most people. From Software’s success is not surprising because the company makes great games. The Soulsborne games are difficult and obscure, but they’re also incredibly challenging. From Software achieved a high point in terms of critical acclaim and sales when Elden Ring became its biggest game ever. The studio, which has now become a household brand in the world of gaming is turning back to the roots.

We flew to Tokyo in early June to meet From Software and be the world’s first to play Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon. From Software has worked on the AC series for all of its history and it has an avid fan base. But compared to Soulsborne, the AC series is now a niche game. One thing that From wants to introduce to their massive audience.

Alex Van Aken, my video editor, and I played the game for around two hours and spoke to multiple developers and publishers. Our ten-page feature story delves into the Armored Core series’ history, the reasons why From returned after 10 years, and the expectations of players. Spoiler Alert: They shouldn’t be expecting a Souls-style game.
