Celebrate Earth Day with Team Xbox
Team Xbox celebrates Earth Day today. It is our mission to share the joy, community and excitement of gaming with everyone. Recognizing the negative impact gaming can have on the environment, we also acknowledge it. Microsoft has set ambitious commitments to significantly reduce the company’s environmental impact and operate as a carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste company by 2030. Xbox has also committed to reducing its environmental footprint while still producing the same high-quality games and experiences that fans love.
To meet corporate sustainability goals, Team Xbox has made changes at all levels of product development. In our latest Xbox Sustainability wire post, you will find more details about the efforts made and suggestions for how to decrease your environmental impact.

Gaming and Impact with Microsoft Rewards: World Wildlife Fund, Water.org, and The Nature Conservancy
Microsoft Rewards members from the United States may earn or donate points to select environmental organisations with Xbox. Below are the organizations that will be on Xbox throughout April.
- World Wildlife Fund – As the world’s leading conservation organization, WWF works in nearly 100 countries. They work with individuals from all walks of the globe to create and implement innovative solutions for wildlife and communities. Their goal is to preserve nature and to reduce the worst threats to Earth’s biodiversity.
- Water.org – 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water and 1 in 4 people lack access to a toilet. Water.org is an international nonprofit that works towards changing this. They help people living in poverty get access to safe water and sanitation at home – giving women hope, children health and families a bright future.
- Nature Conservancy – The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to preserve the natural lands and waters upon which all living things depend.
- The Nature Conservancy also donates $1 to Microsoft Rewards for each dollar it spends on April. This is part of the program Plant A Billion Trees. Get more information about the program and start planting your tree right away!

Minecraft celebrates Earth Day by releasing new organic and recycled content, learning content, and building challenges
Mojang Studios launches new content for Earth Day and offers a build challenge every month. Minecraft Education Edition. Every classroom around the world is tuning in to virtual lessons, where sustainability experts meet students and they explore Climate Futures. Minecraft Met Office collaborated to create worlds. Microsoft and Xbox worked with the UK Government’s Environment Agency to develop a flood preparedness world for Minecraft Education EditionThe launching of the ‘, was also done in UK schools. Mojang also launched a new Earth Day line of Minecraftshop.com products made with organic and recycled content. This includes a Mattel Minecraft playset. Hog Wild Nameplate for Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Halo: The Master Chief SelectionOur players have the option to personalize their profiles with nameplates that commemorate in-game events or celebrate special occasions. To bring awareness to the celebration of Earth Day, any players who log in from April 20 to 27 will receive this special ‘Hog Wild’ nameplate, a not-so-subtle nod to the Warthog vehicle!
Forza celebrates Earth Day
Inspired by Xbox’s Earth Day and sustainability visual design, this chameleon-themed livery (with polychromatic rims) adorns the 2015 BMW i8, a hybrid, plug-in electric vehicle. Players will be gifted the Earth Day Livery today. Forza Horizon 5And Forza Horizon 4. Pay attention to the Forza Horizon Twitter to see when it’s been delivered to your in-game Message Center.
Forza Motorsport 7, players will receive the same car and themed livery, as well as rare Earth Day-themed driver gear, by participating in the “Celebrate Earth Day” Rivals event set on the picturesque rolling hills of Virginia International Raceway. This event will end April 26th.
Obsidian’sGroundedEarth Day Art Contest and Tshirt Sales to Benefit Captain Planet Foundation
Earth Day Grounded hosted the #FrankenArtContest benefitting the Captain Planet Foundation! We asked the community to design a Frankenline-printed t-shirt that would be worthy. The finalists are announced, and the winners’ voting will happen live at PAX at the Main Theater and on Twitch! You can vote live on April 23rd, at 10:00 PDT/1:00 EDT. Xbox Honors Earth Day With a New GamerpicAvatar Items and Profile Theme
In partnership with the Sustainability team at Xbox, we’re introducing a new gamerpic, profile themes, and avatar items! Both the Xbox PC and console apps will have access to the profile and gamerpic.
