Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a revival. CD Projekt Red’s 2077 anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, developed by Studio Trigger and Netflix is out (as of today!) The Phantom Liberty expansion is expected to be released next year. Phantom Liberty was confirmed as 2077’s original and sole expansion. However, CDPR may not be ready to give up this world yet.

During the CD Projekt Group H1 2022 earnings call, CDPR’s vice president of business development Michał Nowakowski said the studio is committed to doing more with this IP, as reported by IGN

“We have decided to make a Cyberpunk expansion, and it will use all of the features of new-gen consoles,” Nowakowski announced during the call. “Having said this, we remain fully and completely committed to the Cyberpunk IP development beyond this Cyberpunk extension. We’ve put a lot of effort and time into building this franchise and we definitely want to continue to build upon what was built right now – with new stories, new experiences, new content, basically. There will be only one expansion in terms of video games. But, new things are coming in the future.

While it is impossible to know what the exact details will be, Cyberpunk 2077 is out and the studio may want to explore the entertainment medium further with this IP.
