Call of Duty’s DMZ mode is getting a big nerf, plus more changes to Warzone 2.0

Modern Warfare 2 – Call of Duty Warzone 2.0There will be many updates when Season 2’s patch is released on February 15. The DMZ beta mode has been available since November, when the game launched. Call of Duty Studios announced Wednesday the scope and extent of these new updates.

Call of Duty Platform changes are fairly straightforward. These include improvements to user interfaces, audio, and bug fixes. Things get crazy in the middle. Warzone 2.0’s Battle Royale modes. The Jailer in the Gulag is out, and Domination-style gameplay — as well as rifles and other long guns — are back. Al Mazrah will see an increase in cash drop. The behavior of loot box will change as well. Instead of making players search through the menus when under fire, the stuff will simply drop to the ground. This should speed up gameplay.

Perhaps the most significant change however is that medium- and large backpacks won’t be available anymore.

“Every Player will have the same Backpack throughout the entire game which will subsequently reduce the impact of stacking medical supplies, Equipment, and Killstreaks,” developers said. “We will continue to look for feedback and provide updates that streamline the looting experience for everyone.”

A three-plate vest will also be provided to everyone who starts with it. “This standardization will bring a more reliable feel to each engagement from the get-go,” developers said.

Finally, in DMZ, developers have made a concession to solo players and will rebalance the AI difficulty overall — including their accuracy at range. Although spawn points will continue to be tweaked, the most significant change in mission difficulty and accuracy at range will occur. As someone with more than 70 exfils and a DMZ-earned prestige rank under their belt, I still haven’t managed to unlock my second insured weapon slot. Seems I’m not alone:

Feedback and data confirmed that Faction Mission difficulty was too high for some Players. It made it difficult to unlock the second Insured Weapon Slot, which is required to complete all Tier 3 Missions in Season 1. The difficulty of Missions has been adjusted as Tiers advance. Even though later Tier Missions are still challenging for experienced operators, we think that easier access to additional Insured Slots will be a better way forward for all players.

Many other modifications are mentioned in the post. However, we expect to receive a complete set of patch notes around February 14.
